Andersonville's Pasticceria Natalina Closes in 2011
Neighborhood: Andersonville
Chicago, IL 60640
United States of America
The Pasticceria Natalina bakery located at 5406 North Clark Street will shutter its doors in September, 2011. The bakery that offered Malika Ameen, former Top Chef contestant, its kitchen was a favorite of many Andersonville residents. The delicious Italian pastries that were served by owner Natalie Zarzour will be missed. In addition, Zarzour says that "people tell me, 'I don't like that you're not open seven days a week; I don't like that you don't have exactly what I want. I don't like that it costs more.'" She goes on to say that "the people who love us have been great, but they're too small a percentage."

When the bakery closes in September of 2011, Natalie hopes to go to Oregon to spend time cooking with her friends and dabble in wine making. Right now, she has no definite plans to come back to Chicago. A favorite of many customers were the cannolis, although not cheap, were rich, creamy and delicious. Considering herself sort of an artist, Zarzour reasons, "the concise answer is that an artist can't do the same thing for very long before she craves the next challenge."
