Andre Agassi Admission: Andre Agassi Admits 1997 Crystal Meth Use

Andre Agassi Reveals in His Autobiography that He Used Crystal Meth in 1997

Andre Agassi made a startling admission. Andre Agassi admitted something that no one thought Andre Agassi would ever do. Andre Agassi admitted that he has used crystal meth.

ABC News reports that Andre Agassi admits to taking crystal meth. He failed a drug test in 1997, and concocted a story about how he "accidentally" took the drug. Of course, the tennis authorities believed the star's story and the test results were thrown out.

Throwing out the drug test was more about preserving the integrity of tennis. Tennis officials didn't want tennis to be seen as the sport of drug addicts. Whether or not the tennis officials actually believed Agassi's fabrication or not, we will never know.

Agassi's admission doesn't come without skepticism. Andre Agassi was initially worried about how his fans would feel about the news. Now, he's excited to tell his story. Andre Agassi's story will be told in his autobiography, which is due out in a few weeks.

Guardian.co.uk is not surprised at Agassi's admitted drug use. During this period of time, Andre Agassi was experiencing a "career free fall", and people didn't think he'd ever make a comeback.

Some people are trying to figure out why Andre Agassi is admitting his drug use. Some think that perhaps he is trying to sell his autobiography. Others think he is trying to clear his conscience. Emotions about Agassi's admission range from sympathy to disgust, and from utter shock to general indifference.

Agassi's admitted drug use isn't what troubles me. What troubles me is the lying. Lying to tennis officials to avoid a two year ban, and the tennis officials accepting his fabricated story both go to show you that people will do anything to keep their reputation intact.

Of course, no one is perfect. Everyone has their vices. It's likely that Andre Agassi did use the drug again, although he didn't mention anything about any drug use outside the failed drug test in 1997. The pressures of a career free-fall and the desire to do more drove the tennis star into a dark place in his life.

Now, Andre Agassi is one of tennis' most loved players. He is a family man married to another tennis star. The couple has two children, and he is retired. His autobiography will be out soon, and there are many individuals who will most likely read it.
