Andre Smith: The Future Number One NFL Draft Pick to the Detroit Lions?

Nick Meyer
The Detroit Lions have tried to build a team through the draft for years with skill players like WR's and QB's but everyone knows that good franchises in the NFL tend to build the lines first.

Andre Smith Scouting Report: A Detroit Lion?

Andre Smith was the key component in Alabama's run game all year. He is a mauler at left tackle and a mountain of a man who's simply bigger than everyone he comes up against. But he also has great feet and is a very good pass protector.

The Detroit Lions should not shy away from Andre Smith because of his suspension from the Sugar Bowl because hiring an agent is not a character flaw like say getting a DUI would be.

NFL Draft: Why the Lions Should Pick Andre Smith

Andre Smith could be a "pick and forget" kind of player in the 2009 NFL Draft for the Detroit Lions. Smith is the kind of guy who can solidify the left tackle spot for years to come for the Detroit Lions, a franchise devoid of quality, stable building blocks.

The Lions already have Kevin Smith, a phenomenal running back talent who could become a star running behind Smith next year if the Lions take Andre Smith in the 2009 NFL Draft.

Andre Smith Lions Draft Projection

Because Matthew Stafford and Sam Bradford aren't ready to be top picks in the 2009 NFL Draft as franchise-type NFL QB's, the Lions will do the right thing and pick Andre Smith number one this year.

It will be the right decision and the Lions will finally have an identity. A solid run game plus a play-action bomb to Calvin Johnson will be incredibly hard to stop as long as the Lions' QB's don't screw it up.

they were bad but smith is a PUNISHING run blocker. it seems to me like the best nfl teams are the strongest most violent and aggressive teams.

he has a good track record at Bama, no? the lions will probably not take him now...but i still think they should.

ummm....you might want to change this one...I've had a lot worse predictions (like the Lions making the playoffs last year!!). Smith should fall out of the top 10 with the shananigans he is pulling.
