Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens Sent Home on American Idol Results Show

Ryan Seacrest announced that there more than 34 million votes last night, the highest number of votes so far this season. The night started off like it was going to be fast moving results show with little drama. Casey James, Aaron Kelly and Andrew Garcia were asked to take the center stage. And, at 9:15 p.m., Ryan said, "Andrew, it's the end of the road." As Andrew sang one last song, Casey and Aaron were told to take a seat because they were safe. With 45 minutes left in the show and only one more contestant left to be eliminated, what could possibly happen next?

After the break, Brooke White, a season seven finalist, and Justin Gaston performed "If I Can Dream." Justin who? Justin Gaston, an underwear model and ex-boyfriend of Miley Cyrus, that's the guy who performed on Idol. The same guy that stars in the web series "If I Can Dream." At least their duet is available for free on iTunes.

Ryan also took time to Idol Gives Back that will air next Wednesday. He announced performances by the Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox, Mary J. Blige, Jeff Beck, Sir Elton John and Carrie Underwood. Viewers also watched a touching video of Kara Dioguardi and Elliot Yamin's trip to Angola where Idol donations are used to purchase mosquito nets and build a malaria free dormitory for children.

Next, Tim Urban, Crystal Bowersox, Michael Lynche, Katie Stevens, Sioban Magnus and Lee DeWyze are called to the stage. In a matter of minutes, Crystal, Sioban and Lee are asked sit down leaving Tim, Michael, Katie to wait until after Adam Lambert's performance of his new hit song Whatta You Want From Me to learn their fate.

Finally, at 9:55 p.m., Tim was asked to sit down, Michael was told he wasn't even in the bottom three and Katie was told she was leaving the competition.

The theme for next week is inspirational songs as a tie in to Idol Gives Back. Alicia Keys is the guest mentor. Tune in on Tuesday, April 20, at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
