Andrew Lloyd Webber and Battling Cancer: Prostate Cancer Plagues Famous Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber
Andrew Lloyd Webber is Best Known for the "Phantom of the Opera" and Other Broadway Hits
I viewed "The Phantom of the Opera" in Toronto and Canada, and attended a production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream coat" as a student at Harding University. I saw "Cats" when it came to the Flint, Michigan. Of all the plays and symphonies I have attended over my years, Andrew Lloyd Webber's productions are among the most upbeat and moving.
Imagine my dismay when I read headlines this morning: Andrew Lloyd Webber has prostate cancer. Luckily, Andrew Lloyd Webber's cancer is in its early stages, and the composer is expected to return to work by the end of the year.
Even those who have never heard of Andrew Lloyd Webber's plays have probably heard some of his music. "Don't Cry for me Argentina" was performed by Madonna during her role in a major Hollywood production of "Evita". "Memory" is best known by Barbara Streisand's rendition.
Andrew Lloyd Webber is British, and received a knighthood in 1992, and was married twice before his current wife. Andrew Lloyd Webber has 5 children: 2 with his first wife and 3 with his third. In 2006, he was ranked the 86th richest Briton, with a fortune worth 700 pounds.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's composing career is far from over. He recently announced a sequel to his "Phantom of the Opera" called "Love Never Dies". The production is scheduled to open in London in March and on Broadway in November with rehearsals starting next year.
Again, Andrew Lloyd Webber's cancer is still in the early stages. He is expected to make a full recovery, and return back to work relatively soon.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's music and productions have brought joy in to many peoples' lives. He is truly an inspiration, and his success is astounding. If you have never seen one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's plays, I suggest you view one. You will truly be amazed with the music.
If you can't go see one of his productions, head on over to YouTube. There are several snippets of some of Andrew Lloyd Webber's best known music and plays published for free.
