Andrew Morton Adds Angelina Jolie to His Unauthorized Bio Credits
Cheating, Drugs, Voodoo and Self-Mutilation
"They told me some fascinating facts about Angelina and her relationship with Brad. She will have to wait to find out what's in it," Morton said.
Star Magazine has been hyping this book for the last month or so with titillating innuendo galore:
"Angelina Jolie is a jealous, cunning liar who schemed to lure Brad Pitt away from Jennifer Aniston, cheated on him with a woman rock star, - and even slept with her own mother's boyfriend! These are just some of the explosive revelations that could be served up about Hollywood's most famous mom in two shocking new tell-all books."
The other book is supposed to be by an ex-bodyguard. The June 18 issue of "Star" went on sale on June 2 with a huge picture of Jolie behind titillating blurbs: "Drugs! Lies! Secret Lovers!"
Andrew Morton is a 57 year old writer from England who has published a slew of unauthorized biographies that have met with varying degrees of success and one authorized bio that landed him in somewhat of a legal mess.
His first book, "Diana: Her True Story" (1992) purported to 'rip the lid' off secrets of England's Royal Family and provide an account of Princess Diana's strained relationship with her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth. The book, according to an Amazon review, "became a sizzling, international bestseller ... triggering a chain of events that led to Charles and Diana's divorce." After she died tragically in 1997, Morton claimed that Diana was the source for much of the information in the book, and also said the Princess herself read his original drafts, editing them for accuracy.
In late 1998, Andrew Morton gave the world a book on Monica Lewinsky, simply entitled "Monica's Story." His main source for much of this book was the embattled intern herself, so apparently he felt it was okay to dispense with the word "True" in the title. Morton, according to one Amazon reviewer, shows the entire cast of Interngate in a different light than the mass media, delving deep into their motives and personalities.
After the Monica story, Morton wrote an authorized biography of Kenyan president Daniel Arap Moi. He was sued for libel by a Kenyan judge and lost the case to the tune of 45,700 pounds. Andrew Morton evidently decided that unauthorized celebrity bios were a safer bet and wrote exposes on David and Victoria Beckham ("Posh and Becks"), Madonna and Tom Cruise.
Now Angelina Jolie has found herself on the writing end of Andrew Morton's pen, with lurid gossipy promos that promise the book will expose sides of both Angelina and Brad that the reader never dreamed of. But if Kitty Kelley's recent unauthorized biography of talk show queen, Oprah Winfrey is any indication, it is more likely that the book has nothing new to offer, at least not anything with a real basis in "fact," and is just another complilation of gossip and rumor.

Post a CommentFacts only get muddled in a person’s interpretation of the facts, some want to call it truth others want to call it lies!. Fact is fact!!! – oh wise ones of the ever commenting wood chuck journalists. One FACT is true however; more than a handful of journalists have lost their jobs and lively hood because they reported the FACTS on Miss Trashalina!!! only to have been told that “you can't expose that!! her influence means your career is overâ€!.
On behalf of all those who Trashalina has wronged – Go get her Andrew Morton!!
Great report. Morton will sensationalize anyone's life to make a quick buck. Don't think there will be anything new to read about Ange.
Morton isn't a writer, he is a hack, a well known hack.
sounds like another peyton place to me.sad, sad, sad.
Insider goodies!
No connection with New Jersey, is there?
Laughing at Mark's comment. So true...
I'm sure that Morton confirmed that none of these friends and associates have any hidden agendas, axes to grind, and personally witnessed whatever they disclosed, and that he would never put out something sensational that wasn't backed up by facts. Of course, I also believe in the tooth fairy.
Good job, Valerie...it makes one wonder what Morton might accomplish if he were to turn to fiction about these folks instead of sloshing around in the gossip swamp.
