Anesthesia's Promise

Dawn A
What Katiana needs...
She tries to fend off.
Keeping the feelings at bay
Just to last out this one night..
Trying to tear herself away from the familiar bite,
The same familiar COLD indifference of it all
When that feeling hits, she knows it won't be long
Until she's held in that almost blissful warm grasp
The time when she'll be taken away for a while,
But until then she fitfully almost feverishly tries to shake it off
To deny herself what she craves
Her anesthesia to dull the pain
Of her cold, desolate life.
At an the almost desperate pitch
The cravings call
Beconing her to give in
"Just one more time......"
ALWAYS one more time...
ALWAYS telling herself she will NEVER again give into,
Anesthesia's promise
But Katiana remains defiant...
....not this time......
But anesthesia's promise rings LOUDLY in her ears
Over...
.........And over
Soon the resistance is lost..
Drowned out by anesthesia's call...
Katiana desides to give in...
....just this one more time....
She nods her head in a false agreement with herself....
With anesthesia's promise chanting loudly in her ear..
She goes for her...
....Welcomes anesthesia....
Bids a sullen farewell to realitly..
AND WELCOMES OBLIVION......
