Materials for the Angel Christmas Tree Ornament:
Cereal boxes
Craft sticks
Hot glue
Craft glue
Craft paint
Brushes
To get started making the angel Christmas ornament, open up a recycled cereal box. Lay it down on your work surface with the finished side facing downward. Set a craft stick on top of the chipboard, then lightly trace around it in pencil. Draw the shape of an angel's dress on the unfinished side of the cereal box. Ensure that the upper part of the angel's dress is below the top mark from the craft stick. Keep the bottom edge of the dress above the bottom craft stick mark. Cut out the angel dress piece from the cardboard. Turn it over and place it over another part of the cereal box. Trace around this mark, then cut out this angel dress piece, as well. Paint the finished side of the angel dresses with white craft paint.
Take two craft sticks and set them in the center of the painted side of one of the angel dress pieces. Use hot glue to attach them to the angel dress. Attach other angel dress piece over this. Paint the angel's dress with white craft paint. Allow the paint to dry, then paint the other side white as well. Apply additional coats of paint as necessary to make them opaque.
On the remaining chipboard, draw a small circle. This will become the face of the angel Christmas ornament. Cut this circle out, then set it over the chipboard. Trace around the circle and cut out the second circle. Attach the angel's face pieces to the part of the craft sticks that are visible at the angel's neck.
Measure the center point of 7 craft sticks with a ruler. Cut the sticks in half with an Exacto blade. Then cut down two of the craft stick segments about an eighth to a quarter of an inch. Apply some school glue to the craft sticks and place three of them between the two angel dress cardboard segments on each side. Press down to help the ornament to set. Measure and cut the remaining two craft stick halves so that they are the right length to serve as the angel ornament's arms. Spread glue on these sticks and insert them between the sleeves of the angel Christmas ornament. Lay some newspaper or cardboard over the angel ornament and place a heavy object on top. Allow this to remain for an hour or two.
Use flesh colored paint to decorate the angel Christmas ornament's face, hands and feet. Brush some craft glue on the angel's wings. Sprinkle some gold glitter over the wings and shake off the excess. Paint some golden hair, eyes, a nose and a mouth on the angel's face. Make a small wire loop and insert it in the top of the angel's head. Attach a golden thread to hang the Christmas ornament on the tree.
