Angela Stanford: Role Model and Professional Golfer

Candace Leigh Coulombe
"I have a true passion for Fort Worth and TCU. It's awesome and very humbling to be considered an athletic and community role model. I'd love to be both."
~Angela Stanford

Since her freshman year at Texas Christian University, Angela Stanford has made quite an impression on the world of golf. Stanford won nine collegiate tournaments and was both a four-time All-American and a four-time All-WAC athlete. The city of Fort Worth fondly regards their LPGA star, and she keeps the community close to her heart. In addition to serving on the board of the TCU Frog Club, Stanford is active with local services. "When I turned pro, I knew I wanted to be involved in children's charities," she shares. Lena Pope Home, Inc., which began as an orphanage in Fort Worth in 1930, now offers a comprehensive range of resources including family preservation, counseling, alternative education, and foster care for 20,000 children and families. Stanford donates time and money to her hometown organization. "Marty Leonard [golfer and owner of Shady Oaks Golf Course] is one of the best people I know," Stanford says. "When I saw how involved she is with Lena Pope, I knew it was a great organization. I try to donate when I can. Everything helps."
