Angelina Jolie Biography and Filmography

5'7, Brown haired, blue eyed beauty, Angelina Jolie Voight was born in Los Angeles, California on June 4th, 1975 to Oscar-Winning actor Jon Voight and former model/actress Marcheline Bertrand, who is half Iroquois Indian.
Jolie is also little sister to film director James Haven Voight who was born in 1973.

Jolie's parents split and divorced in 1976 leaving Marcheline Bertrand to raise one year old Jolie and her big brother in Palisades, New York.

At 11 years old Jolie followed her acting heritage finding herself attending the Lee Stratsberg Theater Institute.
At the age of 16 Jolie was modeling and was seen in many different music videos, the most memorable are The Rolling Stones, Meat Loaf, Lenny Kravits, and The Lemonheads.

Later Jolie found herself attending night classes at New York University, majoring in film, but soon after she decided to drop out so she could further pursue her acting career.

Jolie joined the L.A.'s Met Theatre Group alongside Ed Harris and Holly Hunter after dropping her night classes at the New York University.

After many unsatisfying roles like Cyborg 2: Glass Shadow, in 1995 Angelina landed a role in the virtual thriller Hackers where she met Costar Jonny Lee Miller (Whom she later married March 28, 1996 only sadly to end in divorced on February 3, 1999.

Jolie then eloped in Las Vegas with 1999's Pushing Tin fellow actor Billy Bob Thornton on May 5, 2000. Two years into their marriage Jolie adopted her Cambodian son Maddox Chivan Jolie, later in the same year (2002) Jolie and Billy Bob filed for divorce July 18th.

Despite growing criticism about 1995's Hackers, Jolie's performance received startlingly rave reviews, which would only be the very beginning of Jolie's great success with her acting career.

Jolie soon became Hollywood's new 'bad girl' and became an A-list actress for her amazingly brilliant performances.
Angelina also achieved wider and greater recognition after she was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award for her role as Cornelia Wallace in TNT's 1997 George Wallace. Later Jolie exploded playing a model in HBO's 1998 hit Gia, which later became the title for which Angelina Jolie is most famous.

Jolie was obviously victorious on the small screen but she didn't seem to achieve as much with her first big screen appearances such as her role in Foxfire in 1996 and Playing God in 1997.

But Jolie gradually became more and more noticed again after her role in Playing By Heart in 1998 with Gena Rowlands and Sean Connery.

1998 and 1999 were also busy years for Jolie as she also played in Pushing Tin, The Bone Collector, and Girl, Interrupted.

Jolie's portrayal of Lisa Rowe in Girl, Interrupted earned herself an Oscar.

So with stardom on her shoulders Jolie only rose higher playing in the 2000 Nicholas Cage movie Gone in Sixty Seconds and later in 2001 she starred as the brave and adventurous Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, and in 2003 she played Lara again in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

Jolie also kept herself busy as she starred in Original Sin in 2001 along with Antonio Bandares, and then in 2003 Jolie assumed the role of Sarah Jordan in Beyond Borders.

In 2004 Jolie went on to have a small part in Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow, also in 2004 Jolie played the mother of Alexander in Alexander the Great.

In 2005 Angelina Jolie starred with Brad Pitt in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Also in 2005 Joie adopted another baby, this time a little baby girl from Ethiopia, Jolie named her Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, yes that's right Brad Pitt divorced his wife Jennifer Aniston and adopted little Zahara, he adopted Maddox as well, and in May of 2006 Jolie and Pitt had a baby of their very own which they named Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt.
