Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Join Wyclef Jean to Support Haiti
Some Stars Spend Their Money and Time on Worthwhile Causes
Brangelina are no strangers to humanitarian efforts
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt join Wyclef Jean in support of Haiti, but the couple are no strangers to humanitarian efforts. An earthquake that measured 7.0 on the Richter scale hit Haiti on January 12, causing significant damage. It has sent singer Wyclef, who was born in Haiti, rushing to draw out as much aid as he can to the devastated region. Expressing an interest in helping Haiti, one of the poorer countries to be found, Wyclef started Yéle Haiti Foundation. (The foundation is now accepting donations for the earthquake relief operation.) Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have assisted Wyclef with the foundation in the past and consider themselves friends of the singer.
They have also helped out in other situations. Angelina Jolie has been a Goodwill Ambassador, pouring help and attention to many impoverished areas of the world. She has put herself on the front lines, witnessing first hand the devastation and poverty of the areas in such locations as Cambodia, Pakistan, Haiti and New Orleans. Since getting involved with Jolie, Pitt has taken on the humanitarian role along with her. Three of their children were adopted from orphanages in impoverished areas.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt join Wyclef Jean in support of Haiti, but other celebrities have shown genuine humanitarian efforts too
It's always good to see celebrities put their millions and their time into worthwhile causes. With some stars, it's easy to see the efforts are genuine and not an attempt to jump on the bandwagon. Bono, the front man for U2, has founded or co-founded organizations based on his concern for Africa, such as Product Red. In another support for Africa, Oprah opened Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa. The boarding school is designed for gifted girls in impoverished areas of South Africa. George Clooney works vigorously on his campaign to "Save Darfur." Audrey Hepburn worked with the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund until she died.

Post a CommentThanks for reading my article, everyone. This disaster in Haiti is very disturbing. CNN showed an image of a dead infant covered with a blanket. Too much.
I saw the info about Wyclef Jean.
artists for a cause
Oops, I said that backwards, Wyclef Jean.
It's sad it takes celebrity involvement to get people to see the need, but at least there are celebrities who care and who do draw attention to the need. I have a lot of respect for Jean Wyclef for what he is doing for Haiti.
