Angelina Jolie Movie Quotes

Valerie Ferrari
Glamorous actress, Angelina Jolie, has played quite a variety of roles throughout her career, and here we have a collection of quotes from her characters in some of her best-known films, as well as a few that you may have forgotten or not even seen:

Let's start with "The Tourist" (2010): Angelina co-stars with Johnny Depp as Frank. Her character, Elise Clifton-Ward says to Frank: "20 million dollars worth of plastic surgery. And that's the face you choose."

"Salt" (2010): In this spy thriller, the Russians think Angelina is a spy, but she doesn't agree: Evelyn Salt says: "I'm not a [expletive] Russian spy."

"Changeling" (2008): Angelina plays a mother whose son is missing and when she gets him back, she knows it's not her real son. As Christine Collins, she is determined to get her real son back: "I used to tell Walter, 'Never start a fight... but always finish it.' I didn't start this fight... but by God, I'm going to finish it."

In "Beowulf" (2007), Angelina plays Grendel's mother, a decidedly unglamorous role, but she still knows a thing or two about it, as she tells Beowulf: "One needs glamour to become a king."

Angelina makes a couple of toasts in "The Good Shepherd" (2006), as Clover Wilson: "Bonesmen first, God second," and "Agency first, God second."

Most of Angelina's lines in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" (2005) can't quite stand alone, but Brad Pitt, as John Smith, had one that can: "Your aim's as bad as your cooking sweetheart... and that's saying something!

There's so many back and forth wisecracks in the film, it's hard to pick, but here's one I liked:

Jane Smith: "My parents died when I was five. I'm an orphan."
John Smith: "Who was that kind fellow who gave you away at our wedding?"
Jane Smith: "Paid actor."

In "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life" (2003), Angelina gets to explain yin and yang: "Nature is about balance. All the world comes in pairs. Yin and Yang. Right and Wrong. Men and Women. What's pleasure without pain."

In "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" (2001), Angelina gets to quote from classic English poetry, "Auguries of Innocence:" Her character says, "To see your world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower. To hold infinity in the palm of your hand, An eternity in an hour. William Blake."

"Original Sin" (2001): Angelina stars with Antonio Banderas in this intriguing film with Jolie as a mail-order bride. Many feel the film was grossly under-rated. As Jolie's character, Julie, puts it: "... this is not a love story, but it is a story about love. About those who give in into it, and the price they pay. ..."

In "Girl Interrupted" (1999), Angelina steals the show as Lisa Rowe, Winona Ryder's best friend while in a psychiatric hospital. Whoopi Goldberg, Vanessa Redgrave and the late Brittany Murphy were also in the film. On Lisa's job ambition, Jolie says: "If I could have any job in the world I'd be a professional Cinderella." She means at Disney World, although a couple of songs have come along with entitled "Professional Cinderella," that means something else.

In 1998, Angela starred in "Gia." A film about one of the original supermodels, Gia Carangi, who burned bright for a short while but crashed fast. I did wonder if they got this line from the movie from the real Gia Carangi: "I do be da pittiest, pittiest girl. I do be dat."

"Love is All There is" from 1996 (actually filmed in 1994) has Angelina sporting an Italian accent. She plays Gina Malacici who is involved in a Romeo and Juliet-like situation between two competing Italian families. A fun comedy that comes on TV now and then, it also boasts a cast that includes the inimitable Lainie Kazan, Paul Sorvino, Joseph Bologna, Abe Vigoda, Connie Stevens and even Joy Behar (as one of the Italian wives). Here's Angelina's first line is to her love interest, Rosario (Nathaniel Marston): "You dress funny -- I like it."
