Angelina Jolie is arguably the biggest celebrity in the world today. Her name attached to almost any film these days almost guarantees box office success but that was not always the case.

Angelina Jolie has been in an number of movie flops but none recently. The 2007 movie A Mighty Heart only made $19 million worldwide at the box office but the film produced by Brad Pitt only cost $16 million to make.

Reportedly Angelina is disappointed with the box office results from the recently released The Tourist co-starring Johnny Depp. The Tourist cost $100 million and has grossed $162 million to date. But Angelina Jolie is pushing the movie hard overseas as she has done with many of her films like Alexander (2004) which flopped in the USA but made $133 million overseas, to make The Tourist a box office success.

1) Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005) - $478 million

Mr. and Mrs.Smith stars Angelina Jolie with husband Brad Pitt and is Angelina's biggest box office movie to date. She does have a very minor role in Kung Fu Panda which made $632 million but the role was too minor to count here. Mr. and Mrs. Smith cost $110 million to make.

2) Shark Tale (2004) - $367 million

The animated comedy Shark Tale cost $75 million to make and grossed $367 million worldwide at the box office. Co-stars include Robert De Niro, Will Smith and Jack Black.

3) Wanted (2008) - $341 million

In the action thriller Wanted Angelina Jolie co-stars with Morgan Freeman. The comic book based film cost $75 million to make.

4) Salt (2010) - $294 million

The action-thriller Salt has Angelina Jolie playing double-agent Evelyn Salt and cost $110 million to make.

5) Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) - $275 million

In the action-thriller Lara Croft: Tomb Raider based upon a video game character Angelina Jolie plays Lara Croft. The film cost $110 million dollars to make. Angelina also starred in the 2nd Lara Croft film Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) which only made $157 million and cost $95 million to make.

6) Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) - $237 million

Gone in 60 Seconds co-stars Nicholas Cage and cost $90 million to make.

1) Hell's Kitchen (1998) - $11,710

Hell's Kitchen also stars Rosanna Arquette. It cost $6 million and was only released in 2 theaters.

2) Playing by Heart (1998) - $4 million

Playing by Heart also stars Sean Connery, Jon Stewart and Dennis Quaid. It cost $20 million to make and only made $4 million at the box office. Angelina Jolie however stands out in the film which helped launch her career.

3) Playing God (1997) - $4.2 million

Playing God also stars David Duchovny and Timothy Hutton and cost $12 million to make. It was so bad the studio held off releasing it for 2 years after it was made. Never a good sign for a movie.

4) Pushing Tin (1999) - $8.4 million

Pushing Tin cost $33 million to make and co-stars Angelina Jolie's ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton as well as John Cusack as dueling air traffic controllers. Not the stuff of movie legends.

5) Beyond Borders (2003) - $11.7 million

Beyond Borders cost $35 million and did not make back 1/3 of that at the box office. Clive Owen co-starred in the major flop.

6) Life or Something Like It (2002) - $16.9 million

Life or Something Like It cost $40 million and only made $16.9 million at the box office worldwide. The film co-stars Edward Burns and earned Angelina a Golden Raspberry Award nomination. Not a great movie by any means but it is somewhat watchable.
