Angeln Cattle were once popular because of their competitive nature in adapting to the environment, and different climates and conditions. They are known for surviving in harsh climates with adverse conditions. They are also known for their amazing mobility skills. For one, they are capable of walking long distances because of their hoof formation and hardiness which makes it easy for them to move from pasture to pasture following their food source. They are also not susceptible to hoof problems neither.
Angeln bull and cattle are average sized. The bull will usually stand at about 143 centimeters at the shoulder, and will weigh about 1100 pounds. The female Angeln cattle are quite a lot lighter, and will only weigh at about 500 - 600 pounds standing at about 130 centimeters at the shoulders. They are quite muscular and sturdy creatures, and have hard and sturdy hooves. They have light muscles and slim, graceful body structures.
Angeln Cattle have nice uniformed coats which range from a deep mahogany red to a dark and rich brown. Their muzzles are much like their coats and extremely dark - sometimes they are even a black color. They also may have white-flecked udders. Udder is the mammary organ of the cattle. Also, young cattle are usually dehorned.
Angeln cattle are primarily bred for their milk as they can produce milk over a long period of time. Over a year, one typical cattle is generally capable of producing around 5000 kg of milk with 2000 kg of milk fat. Because of the high butterfat content in the milk, the milk is good for many different uses, and has different capabilities. Other than milk, cattle are also bred for their meat, and known for their fine fiber.
Angeln cattle were produced by the intercrossing of native cattles, and the breed quickly gained in size once it was developed. When they were first developed, these cattle weighed much less than nowadays.
