Angels' Eyes: Product Review

Angels' Eyes May Help You Rid Your Dog of Red Tear Stains

Pat Anthony
Angels' Eyes is a product that is marketed for pet's that have tear stains. Dogs and cats that are white or light in color may appear to have such stains. Some breeds continually have red stains that seem harmless yet look unsightly. The stain is not the only thing you will notice. The hair near the eyes actually becomes stiff from what is contained it the dog's tears.

If you do not use a product such as Angels' Eyes, be aware that the matted hair by your dog's eyes may be continually wet and bacteria can thrive in such spaces. It is recommended that this hair be trimmed short on a regular basis.

Angels' Eyes is sold in most stores that exist to sell you what you need for your pets. The product can also be found online.

When I first thought about purchasing Angels' Eyes for a white dog our family takes care of I thought I should do some research. I was told by a veterinarian's employee that nothing would help with the tear stains. However, a person who had used the product told me it worked wonders on her pet.

I purchased a 30 gram bottle for $14.95 at a pet supply store. After using the product for a few days I thought I saw a difference, but felt it may be too soon to really tell. This dog's face is washed daily, so it did not have the larger stains I have seen on some pets.

When it comes to pricing Angels' Eyes you may notice a considerable difference from one store or site to another. It is not unusual to find it sold for twice what I paid when you compare places that handle pet supplies.

Angels' Eyes is easy to give to a dog. The instructions on the bottle state you should shake it before using. We sprinkled the amount needed, which was ¾ of a teaspoon for this dog, on the dog's food daily. You can mix this in the dog's water if you prefer.

Instructions on the Angels' Eyes bottle states that after 3 months you will only use it 4 times each week. After 6 months the dog will need Angel's Eyes 2 times each week. Once you have used the product for 9 months the treatment is complete.

Angels' Eyes will not stop the problem with tear staining permanently. However, it has been 6 months for the white dog we gave this product and this dog does not have the tear staining it once had.

There are differing opinions as to why this tear staining occurs. You will notice on the Angels' Eyes site (listed below) foods with artificial colors are suspect. However, if your dog is having an allergic reaction to something tear staining may also occur.

Before giving any product to your dog or cat be sure you mention your decision to your pet's vet during your pet's next routine check-up.

Angels' Eyes is available in several flavors:

Beef flavored: Ingredients-100% Pure Beef Liver and Tylosin as Tartrate.

Chicken flavored: Ingredients-100% Pure Chicken Liver and Tylosin as Tartrate

Sweet Potato flavored: Ingredients-Sweet Potato, Brown Rice, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Tetra Sodium Pyrophosphate, and Tylosin as Tartrate.

We are happy with the results we see from using Angels' Eyes. We would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has a cat or dog with tear staining.

If your dog is allergic to Angels Eyes, I've heard that you can use human eye drops to help with tearing. You should always ask your vet first, though.
