It is completely natural to feel angry or frustrated occasionally. However, if you discover your anger affects your relationships with family or friends, your anger has gotten you into trouble at work, your temper scares others, you have a difficult time letting things go and forgiving others for how they have hurt you, you have become physically violent, you have been so angry that you have done or said things you do not remember later, and/or if you have desired to get revenge on someone who has hurt you, you may have an anger management problem. Colorado Anger Solutions: Colorado Anger Solutions offers an anger management class, which can be taken as part of a group or individually. The eight-session course is designed to help you learn why you get angry, how to use different tools when you are feeling frustrated, communication techniques, how to let things go, and how you can control your frustration. These classes may also be taken to fulfill court-ordered anger management requirements.

To begin the process of getting into a group class, you must first request an initial consultation. You may request an appointment on the business' website. You will also need to fill out some forms to bring to your consultation appointment, which may be found here. The packet of forms includes a basic client information page, an explanation of policies, privacy policy, and a release of information form.

During your initial consultation, you can discuss your situation in detail, the reason you are taking the course, individual counseling, and ask any questions you may have about the class. If the group is a good fit for your needs, you will be informed about when the next class starts. There are typically 6-10 individuals participating in group classes; however, you can also take individual classes if you desire. Group classes cost $40 per session and individual classes cost $95 per session. Additionally, the initial consultation costs $50. While Colorado Anger Solutions does not accept insurance, the business is willing to give you receipts so that you can submit them to your insurance for reimbursement.

SB Cosulting is unique in that it provides anger management classes for men, women, adults, adolescents, pre-teens, and kids. The classes follow along with the workbook Relationships Without Anger and Anger Management for Today. The group lasts 10-12 weeks and topics covered during sessions include: communication and coping skills, listening skills, the cycle of anger and escalation, relationships skills, forgiveness, how to eliminate negative self-talk, needs, empathy, emotional intelligence, and stress management.

Kids and pre-teens who attend anger management classes at SB Consulting participate in interactive classes where they learn how to express their needs and wants in an appropriate way, anger management, and communication skills.

Individuals who wish to attend these anger management groups may join the class at any time. If you are interested in attending the classes offered at SB Consulting, you need to either call them at 720-971-1254 or register with them on their website.

Men can attend anger management class from 4-5:15pm on Sundays, women from 5-6:15pm on Mondays, and adults (men and women) from 7-8:15pm on Wednesdays. Additionally, kids aged 8-10 years old can attend classes from 3-4pm on Fridays, pre-teens aged 10-12 years old from 6:30-7:30pm on Thursdays, and adolescents aged 13-16 years old can attend classes from 5:30-6:45pm on Wednesdays. Registration for these classes is free. The workbook needed for the sessions costs $16 and each session costs $35.

The Conflict Center: Another place in which you may take anger management classes in Denver is The Conflict Center. This agency specifies that their course is preventative in nature, and is not for individuals who have received multiple convictions or have a long history of becoming physically violent. The course is for adults 18 years of age and older. Topics covered include how to de-escalate anger, identifying alternatives to fighting, understanding decisions and consequences, problem-solving techniques, how to work with others to get your needs met effectively, conflict styles, defense mechanisms, how to recognize your personal triggers to anger, and communication skills.

According to the agency's website, there are 6-12 people in each class and the course lasts for six weeks. Evening anger management sessions meet from 5:30-7:30pm. The entire course costs $150 and there is a $35 down-payment required at the time of registration.

Front Range Counseling Center: The Front Range Counseling Center offers an anger management group for teen boys aged 17 years of age and younger. This anger management group runs for 12 weeks and covers topics such as how to express oneself in a healthy manner, the cycle of abuse, distress tolerance, setting healthy boundaries, how to regulate emotions, assertiveness and communication skills, how to get what you need in an appropriate way, interpersonal skills, and mindfulness.

Group sessions focus on processing weekly assigned readings from the workbook Mad: How to Deal With Your Anger and Get Respect. Additionally, teen boys will have an opportunity to share their struggles and issues with the group each week.

In order to enter the group, you must first attend an individual session with a counselor to determine if the group is a good fit for you. At this time, you can also ask any questions you have about the group. The individual session costs $90. You can contact the Front Range Counseling Center to set up the session at 303-933-5800. If you and the counselor determine the group is a good fit for you, each group session costs $40 with an additional cost of $16 for the book Mad: How to Deal With Your Anger and Get Respect. It should also be noted that the agency requires a 12-week minimum commitment to the group.
