Angst

EXT. PARK - DAY

Camera opens on a white piece of paper with the word "Neglect" scrawled in an old English like script. Camera pulls out slightly to show the paper is attached to the legs of a chair/barrier bars. Other words are also attached, there are burn marks and cuts in the wood of the barrier as well as several photos of Zoe making angst expressions. ZOE's voice starts as the camera explores the barriers.

ZOE

Long ago I discovered darkness

(beat)

Long ago I discovered pain

The camera has come to a name card of "weirdo" with a hand placed on top. The camera follows the hand up to Zoe's face. She's dressed in Goth-make up very cliché. Zoe gives a melodramatic sigh.

ZOE

It is much to my woe that my eyes were opened to the grave truth of the world. All darkness, cold, and pain.

Zoe clenches her fists and springs blood from her palm.

A laughing couple go walking by, the girl stumbles over one of the barriers out stretched pieces. She looks in Zoe's direction but looks straight through her and her bloody palm.

ZOE

(very melodramatic)

I am forever encased in the icicle walls of my own isolation-a stagnate world devoid of kindness and love. And since I don't believe in sucide, what else is there to do but exist and suffer. Suffer a life away.

Zoe buries her head in her unbloodied hand.

A girl approaches one corner of the barrier. She taps on it and then starts to edge it apart. Zoe's head snaps up.

ZOE

Just what do you think you're doing?! Leave that barrier the hell alone. Can't you see I'm in the middle of angst here?

She takes a ketchup bottle from next to the barrier (a place we've not seen before) and chucks it at the girl. The girl looks shocked and runs away. Zoe laughs. Then realizes the ketchup bottle is outside the barrier. She sighs.

ZOE

Just great-now what am I supposed to use for blood.
