Animal Planet's Meerkat Manor - Will Flower's Death Result in the Fans Losing Interest?

Angelie MacKenzie
Meerkat Manor is a show on Animal Planet that follows the lives of the Whiskers group in the Kalahari in Africa. The viewers watch as the meerkats forage for food, face off with predators, and battle with a rival meerkat group. It's actually an exciting show.

Flower was the leader of the Whiskers for four years. She led the Whiskers in running off a cobra snake. But in a surprising turn of events, the cobra snake went straight to the Whiskers' den where Flower's pups were. When they arrived back to their den, they sensed something was wrong. Flower went in first, and received a fatal bite to the head. Even though I've only seen a few episodes of this show, her death was very upsetting. It's even worse knowing that she died trying to protect her pups. Since only one of her pups was shown at the end of the episode, the viewers are unaware if only the one survived. And there was no mention of what happened to their babysitter either.

People are asking in the forums on Animal Planet's website if Flower's death should/could have been prevented. Some people even have conspiracy theories that the snake was released there on purpose. There are a lot of unanswered questions associated with Flower's death.

While the people doing the filming weren't supposed to interfere, I am one of those who believe they should have stepped in to stop the snake from entering the Whisker's den. Now, the star of Meerkat Manor is dead. Will the show survive her death?

I don't know about anyone else, but I find it too heartbreaking to continue to watch this show. And I only started watching a few weeks ago. I can't imagine how a diehard fan feels about her death. But on the Meerkat Manor forums, everyone is very upset. I don't foresee this show running for much longer.

Animal Planet has a memorial forum for Flower on their website.

ROCKET DOG FLOWER I HOPE YOU ARE AS PEACE FULL AS ME I HOPE YOU ARE OK IN HEAVEN RIGHT NOW

Yes, and I believe that once Flower died that the Whiskers and show went down hill. I've seen alot of my favorite meerkats die (I've been a fan since the very first episode.) Alot of the main meerkats

    *Spoilers*

Flower of course, Poor heroic Shakespear, sad lonely Mozart, rebelous Tosca, Kinkaju (who when we first met had taken little Mitch out to play but then abandoned him.) Rocket Dog who met an unfortunite end way before her time (I had hope that she would get the family back on their paws.) and yusarrian (Where ever he may be, he just disapeared, though he may still be alive.)

I hope the meerkats that are still left are fairing well... Some of my other favorites are Mitch (who it seems like we watched him grow up from rascaly pup to proud alpha male.) and little Axel (I fell in love with him as soon as Mitch brought him in and Flower let him stay)

It would be nice if they have just one more series or a movie so us fans can see whats going on with the Whiskers, nowaday

Yes, He is still taking care of one of his daughter's group. He is older and smarter. I guess he does miss Flower. That is the sad part of the story. He was always by her side in a true act of love. But that is o.k.. He will be with her some day. Also, he will be back again with Mozart, Rocket Dog, Blossom, Tosca, Kinkaju, Squiggy and the true hero Shake and the rest of his family members. That will be one of the happiest family reunions for the flower family. Sad, Sad, Sad, as the little criters die off.

they have attacked a snake in that tree before...i dont understand why they would attact it again....i remember one meerkat that got bite by a snake and survived

Yes you may have felt like you "knew" Flower, but honestly there are much more important things in life than a human risking their life (most likely they don't know how to handle a venomous snake), to save a Meerkat. As for the conspiracy theories that is just ridiculous.
