The North Shore Animal League America, www.nsalamerica.org, has been called one of the world's largest pet rescue facilities. Now open for 65 years, the "about us" tab provides details of how their operation expanded. The "pet tips" tab includes tips on training, grooming, even examining medical conditions for animals. Enter their 2009 Road to Riches Sweepstakes by clicking on the "sweepstakes" tab in the "about us" section.
Physically located in Powell, Ohio, the Cozy Cat Cottage, www.cozycatcottage.com, is a non-profit, no kill refuge for cats. As with most rescue facilities, they rely on volunteers and donations to continue operations. The "cat care" tab on their site provides a wealth of information including kitten to senior cat care, handling your cat allergies, to identifying dangerous plants. You can support this organization by clicking on their "how can I help" tab.
Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation, www.arf.net, was created in 1991. Not only do they care for abandoned animals, they have designed programs on how pets can help heal abused children, the elderly, and other victims of violence. The "resources and links" tab will connect you to informative articles such as animal behaviors, emergency pet preparedness, and how to tame a feral cat. The "animal programs" tab links you to their adoption program; spay/neuter clinics, the guardian program, and more.
A common goal that all of these sites share is that animals deserve a loving home. If you are not able to open up your home to a pet in need, open your wallet by donating to an animal rescue facility.
