The Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County has been providing animals in Memphis with food, shelter and medical care since 1933. On their website they have a list of all the items of which they can use donations, types of volunteers they need, and all of the information you should need in order to adopt a pet from their shelter. If you prefer to visit in person, they are located at 935 Farm Road and they are open Tuesday - Friday, 10 am to 6 pm, Saturday - 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday - 1 pm to 5 pm.
Sunny Meadows is located at 4066 New Getwell Rd. They offer adoption and intake services and do their best to match the right pets with the right people. Their website also has lists of ways to donate and volunteer. They are only open without an appointment on Saturday, AKA "Adoption Day," from 1pm - 4pm. They also provide information on discount spay/neuter services.
Collierville Animal Services has a single web page that is a one stop shop for all the information about adoption, volunteering and donating. They can be contacted by phone or via email, except on Sunday and Monday, when they are closed to the public. In addition to spaying/neutering, all their adoptable pets receive de-worming, vaccinations, either heartworm (dog) or leukemia/aids (cat) testing, and even micro-chipping so that new owners can locate their animal more easily if it becomes lost.
Real Good Dog Rescue saves dogs from area animal shelters and the occasional owner surrender and brings them to their facility until permanent homes can be found. On Saturdays they host pet adoption events at local businesses like Hollywood Feed and Petco. They are also always in need of volunteers and donations. Complete the application on their website if you would like to donate your services. They made be contacted by phone or email.
