Animals Stoned to Death in DC - Latest in Animal Abuse

Theresa L.
A new sport has picked up in the DC area, and not to many people are happy with it. Who can blame them, when the newest sport to hit DC is the killing of animals. Around the Carver Terrace Housing Project, 12 animals have been stoned to death in the past few months.

According to wjla.com the Humane Society is offering a $2000 reward for information on the one, or ones, responsible for stoning the animals to death.

A couple of the animals that were stoned was a cat and opossum.

The real issue many are facing is not the deaths of the animals, it is the deaths that have yet to come. Animal Rights activist believe there are worse things to come, and they are probably right.

Statistics have shown that people that abuse and kill animals eventually get bored and more on to bigger targets. Those bigger targets include humans, especially children. Scott Giacoppo, of the Washinton Humane Society, told wjla.com that, in DC, they are finding it common for someone who torture's animals have also harmed humans. Giacoppo was quoted at saying "It is just a link in a cycle".

Giacoppo is correct in his saying. Right now it is innocent animals being hurt, but the next time the police are called in it could be an innocent child.

Marcus Patterson was quoted by wjla.com saying, "They should fine them, yes. And if its kids, then fine their parents. Animal Cruelty!"

Is fining enough? Why should a human be fined for stoning animals to death, while another goes to jail for dog fighting? Should it not be the same? In both cases, you are torturing animals. Should the crime be less offensive because it is a human that is attacking an animal, and not an animal attacking another animal by the urging of a human? 12 animals are dead; all stoned to death. Whoever is responsible has some serious issues, and fining them is not going to be enough.

Hmm , God and the Bible says not to be cruel to animals, maybe we should take his advice more, seems he knows best. :)

So do I. I love animals, and hearing about attacks on humans breaks my heart, but hearing about attacking animals for whims is just disgusting. Adult or child they need to take responsibility for this crime. Thank you for your comment Michele.
