Its opening theme song ("Phosphor" by Ui Miyazaki) could be better, but its surely watch able. As of the end of April 2008, there are five episodes of this anime released. Kanokon's plot revolves around a boy named Kouta Oyamada, who seems to be somewhat shy, and just moving from the country to the city.
He he looks very short and nerdy to be honest, and somehow he manges to meet a very sexy girl named Chizuru Minamoto who's older and in a year ahead of him in school. In the first episode she asks him to meet her in the music room after school, and there she reveals to him the unbelievable. She is actually a fox deity, the two become very close, and she starts to fall in love with the boy it seems.
Eventually, another girl is added into the mix, her name is Nozomu and she is actually a wolf deity. Turns out shes in the same grade as Kouta, and she also falls in love with the boy, so you can imagine theres some fighting between the two girls over him.
Sadly, I am not too fond of the closing theme for Kanokon either, which is "Koi no Honoo" by Yui Sakakibara. Kanonkon reminds me strangely of H20 ~Foot Prints in the Sand~, both are fantasy oriented and have harem romance elements to them.
The thing I like most about Kanokon is the ecchi elements, of course thats not for everyone though. As I mentioned earlier Kouta is pretty nerdy looking, its amusing how he meets and gets these busty girls to fall in love with him and fight over him.
As you could have guessed, this anime is aired every week in Japan. Nevertheless, there are fan subtitled versions available, perhaps you could give it a try and then buy the DVD versions later like I do, as that is the best thing to do for the industry instead of just downloading them.
I would like to point out that if you enjoy this anime, give H20 ~Foot Prints in the Sand~ , and To Love Ru a try. Folks, the bottom line is, I have to recommend Kanokon to guys (or perhaps girls) that just want a interesting, colorful, and fun anime with echii and romance elements. I give Kanonkon two thumbs up, as for some people it is a must watch.
