Let me start off by saying that Shikbane HIme the Anime is based on a Japanese Manga of the same name, both illustrated and written by Yoshiichi Akahito. The name itself, Shikbane Hime, translates to "Corpse Princess," which is actually what the Anime is about: let me explain. Shikbane Hime revolves all around Makina Hoshimura, who is literary an undead girl known as the Corpse Princess.
Makina Hoshimura is on a quest to hunt down 108 zombies, basically so she can get into heaven with the help of a group of Buddhist monks which belong to a secret society. Just judging by the story, I'm sure you can figure out that Shikbane Hime is an Anime rich with interesting themes, and a bit of blood and gore for the most hardcore of fans.
To me, this Anime reminds me of Blood+ in terms of action scenes, and the fact that it has a lead female character. However, in terms of story-line, then Shikbane Hime is much more similar to that of Blade of the Immortal, an Anime about a samurai that can't die till he kills 1,000 evil men. Needless to say, I recommend checking Shikbane Hime out if you enjoyed Blood+ or Blade of the Immortal, but at least check out the trailer online if you enjoy Anime in the slightest.
Shikbane Hime is produced by Feel and Gainax, and airing in October (which seems oddly appropriate with the series themes). This dark yet comedic Anime will be directed by Masahiko Murata and will have exactly 13 episodes for you and your friends to enjoy. Unlike most Anime, the opening and the closing of Shikbane Hime are by the same person, Angela, and are called "Beautiful fighter" and "My story" respectively.
Well, that's it for this sneak peek of Shikabane Hime, be sure to check out this great action Anime when it airs.
