As the number of fans grows, so do the ratings of these networks. Sadly, the very existence of anime presented on some of these channels is at risk due to various reasons. Let's take a look at one of the injustices anime fans have faced over the years.
Adult Swim
Owing much of its existence and popularity to anime, the Adult Swim programming block on the Cartoon Network has been airing anime for years. Also airing are several adult cartoons such as Family Guy, and even live-action comedies such as the Tim and Eric Awesome Show.
For anime fans the injustice began when their favorite series were removed from the Adult Swim schedule and placed on Saturdays. To even further the problem, Adult Swim then moved anime such as Bleach and Code Geass to programming slots in the early AM's.
In the past scheduling changes like this have occurred, for example in mid September of 2008 Adult Swim announced that it would be replacing anime on weekends with Williams Street shows. However due to poor ratings they brought back anime on weekends.
Why would Adult Swim change around anime programming so much? There are those that believe Adult Swim either isn't happy with the current ratings, or that they simply wish to air shows that they produced and developed.
Either way, the Adult Swim forums are littered with anime fans hoping to convince those behind the programming block to place anime back on weekdays or on weekends at acceptable times. Anime fans believe that this injustice is Adult Swims way of turning it's back on that particular fan base.
A petition has even formed in hopes of getting enough signatures to convince Adult Swim to bring back anime to weekdays. Looking to sign the petition or check out the Adult Swim boards? Check it out Here.

Post a CommentI enjoyed AS when they aired anime. It got me interested in the shows they aired and curious about shows that complimented it. Now I'm kind of glad I no longer have cable since it seems I'm not missing out on the new AS.
I like Adult Swim on Cartoon Network.
Nice. I don't have cable anymore but I have heard this complaint from many of my friends. I will pass this on to them, I'm sure they would be happy to sign the petition.
