Ankle Boots Are Back

Fall Footwear Trends 2009

Rebecca Furtado
Fall is here and it is time to put away the sandals, flip flops and canvas kicks and buy some new fashionable fall shoes and boots. Yes, if your ankle boots have been hiding in the back of your closet as long as they are a dark color they can reappear this fall. Ankle boots are about the most practical boots a girl can own. They go with jeans, skirts and even a dress if worn right. This year there are more styles of ankle boots than ever. You can find all variations of leather and suede ankle boots. Girls can pick from easy slid ones to lace up ankle boots.

Next we have a continuation of the revival of the 1970's platform shoes. Girls love the platform shoe because we can get extra height with the balancing act one has to do with traditional high heels. Platform shoes are no longer just more funky styles; you can wear them to work in the form of wedgies platform pumps to a variety of sexy easy to wear platform boots. If you have not jumped on the retro platform band wagon grab your puka beads and bell bottoms and get your plat form shoes for fall

If ankle boots are not your thing this year you can also opt for the sexy over the knee boots that made a splash in the late 60's. Of course you do not need to be a dominatrix or dancer to get away with wearing a pair of sexy over the knee leather boots, maybe just think a bit like one. There are of course these days an endless selection of color and style for over the knee boots and they are especially attractive on long legged lasses. Those of us with stubbier legs may want to consider if we look like walking boots with an upper body that happens to be attached, in the new styles of over the knee boots.

Cutout booties have been described as sexy. I see them as Victorian women's shoes with holes. They come in colors to match any outfit. Yes, there are open toed booties and they are not knit. They come in suede and leather. They are a cute fashion footwear trend for the fall, but maybe not practical if you have limited foot wear budget.

Dark hues of the all color spectrum are in this fall. Dark plums and purples are all the rage. The color cognac is getting lots of this attention this year and it is more in the medium brown range. It is a good choice for a footwear color as it will blend with most colors in your wardrobe. Ruffles on shoes especially pumps, and fashion flats are also "in "this fall. Again, if you have a limited shoe budget you might want to avoid trendy ruffles
