Ann Coulter Refers to Joe Biden as Drunken Irishman Twice in Debate Over Biden Attempt to Counter Cheney Criticism

Marc Schenker
Ann Coulter has referred to VP Joe Biden as a "drunken Irishman" not once, but two, extremely enjoyable times in a debate with former Howard Dean campaign manager Joe Trippi over the Obama White House's reactionary attitude of dispensing Joe Biden to counter Cheney's criticism of Obama's failed terror policies. Appearing as a panelist on Jerry River's (that's Geraldo Rivera to you and me) Sunday night show on FNC, Coulter delivered the spot-on description of Biden in the broader context of his effectiveness and credibility as someone the White House would choose to discredit Cheney. Clearly, Coulter was less than impressed with the VP, and his long, almost endless list of infamous gaffes just lends her credibility about the state of his sobriety as it relates to political debate.

Coulter referred to Biden as a drunken Irishman in back-to-back segments on Geraldo Rivera's show, considerately making sure that those who missed her slight the first time would be sure to catch it the second time around. In particular, Coulter's reference for the slight seemed to be correctly directed at Biden's dishonest propaganda of late of falsely claiming that the success of Iraq was an Obama Administration success as opposed to a George W. Bush one. Unless one is a revisionist of history, one cannot let that falsehood of Biden's go without standing up, having one's own Joe Wilson moment, and boldly shouting, "You lie!!"

All the facts confirm that Bush's decision in 2007 to increase US troops when his commanders asked-as opposed to Obama's infinitely shameful and not soon to be forgotten mismanagement in 2009 over the same issue-is what ultimately pacified Iraq to the point where it's quite quiet today. Whether it was the dismantling of al-Qaeda in Iraq, successful elections in the country, or the ability for US troops to take a more background role due to the increased strength of Iraqi forces...these were policies implemented during Bush's administration!

Making sure that the lucky audience completely comprehended exactly where she was coming from with regards to the reasoning behind her very understandable contempt of Biden, Coulter reasoned that just the mere fact that the White House was putting forth Joe Biden to answer Cheney was akin to them declaring that they have absolutely no respect for Cheney. Going further to flesh out her reasoning, Coulter established that the reason for her slight was because Joe Biden simply makes crazy statements all the time, with the unwarranted stealing of credit for Iraq being primary among them at this time.

When Geraldo-left-winger he is despite his claim to be a Republican (oh, all right, he could be the Meagan McCain type of "progressive Republican" who's trying to destroy the party)-actually had the, ahem, stones, so to speak, to assert that Cheney's attacks were "not working," Coulter properly cut him off on the spot to tell him the opposite was in fact true. She cited the very real possibility that the Obama Adminsitration's ill-conceived plan to try KSM in NY would not go through as evidence of Cheney's effectiveness, although there already exists, simultaneously, empirical evidence in polling to indicate the effectiveness of Cheney's Obama attacks.

Just for the record and for the sake of being completely correct in both technicality and accuracy, when we use the term "drunken Irishman" in reference to a prominent member of the Democrat Party, I think a more proper application of it would have been to the late Ted Kennedy, or to his son, Patrick Kennedy. Just saying...because both of them were/are admitted drunks...unlike Biden who, while putting his foot in his mouth repeatedly, only appears to be drunk when making gaffes, but hasn't to my knowledge publicly admitted being an alcoholic.

  • Hi Republicans !!!3/28/2010

I think that "Ann" should set the record straight about "her" gender. It is highly suspected that "she" is a transsexual who was once a man and had a sex change. It is a fact that "she" has an Adam's apple and wears a size 13 shoe. I honestly believe that "she" just might be a man. I'm a moderate Republican and I have nothing against transsexuals, but "Ann" should come clean about "her" gender and stop deceiving folks.

Republicans win elections by publicizing their basic principle of less big government. They don't win elections via negative statements about the Democrats.

Ann Coulter never seems to remember the misstatements of Cheney et al, and there were many. I find her to be the ultimate vindictive and lopsided commentator.

Grrr drunken Irishman. Why add the Irish to the drunken? She's entitled to her own opinion of course but I get so sick of hearing that stereotype.
