Anna Sheffield's Jewelry for Target: Pretty and Inexpensive

V.S. Lee
Jewelry is a lot like wine. In small, reasonable amounts it is a lovely addition to many situations, but in excess becomes overwhelming and unattractive. Some of the prettiest accessories, in my opinion, are the antique jewelry and cameos. Sadly, I cannot afford to purchase that kind, so I have to make do with less expensive brands. I feel better about spending less money, since my children will most likely help me to break most of my jewelry. Every family has its own talents, destruction is the genetic heritage in my family.

When looking for jewelry, I do not try to find old fashioned jewelry, since most of the inexpensive brands are made from cheap metals that cause a rash or turn the spot in which I am wearing them black. The line of jewelry that Anna Sheffield has at Target stores is actually quite pretty, and is made with silver and coated in fourteen-carat gold. I have looked at the website for Target, www.target.com. To find the jewelry collection by Ms. Sheffield, look to the top right area of the page, then hover over the "See More" option. There will be an option titled, "jewelry." Ms. Sheffield's link is to the left of the page.

The page layout is easy to navigate. The options for viewing the products are by category, such as necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings, or by collection, such as chain gang, curios, hearts and thoughts, and studs and facets. There is a picture on the first page showing a model wearing some of the pieces, and under that are a few pictures from each category of jewelry and information on prices and materials used. The pictures are in color and some are shown from two angles to give the shopper a better idea of how it will look.

My favorite necklace is the multi-strand heart necklace from the Hearts and Thoughts group. I love all the thin silver strands and the heart pendant that sits to the left of the necklace. I think it would go very well with any tank top, dress or blouse that has a low, but tasteful neckline. I would wear my hair up, or at least partially back, in order to showcase it. I would want the gold over silver Beloved bracelet. It is a bangle bracelet, and the inscription reads "Beloved." I love bangle bracelets as they can be worn with any type of top. The earrings that I would choose to finish the ensemble would be the chain-hoop earring. This set would be wonderful to wear with a pastel blue sweater with a low neckline with hair pulled leaving a few wisps down in the front.

My next combination would begin with the ornate drop earrings. I love the shape of the earrings. They almost remind me of mushrooms, but with a nice sparkle. They are a nice warm color, and I would love them with the ornate drop necklace to continue the theme. Both pieces are pretty, but not overwhelming. I would then want the charm bangle, since it small and simple like the other two pieces. These pieces will complement any style, but dark colors will really call attention to the jewelry. Combs would be perfect to hold the hair back and let it be a backdrop for the earrings without covering them.

The one category that is left to discuss is the ring collection. By far, my favorite one of the three is the belt ring. I think it is wonderfully ornate, and it is different enough to be eye-catching. The other two rings are pretty as well, but the bird or cuckoo jewelry rings or other pieces did not appeal to me. I like simple jewelry, and I like the more delicate pieces. There are more choices to be made, but the pieces combinations are the first ones to catch my attention.

I do love jewelry, but I am quite picky about what I will wear. I prefer the simple jewelry that does not overwhelm the wearer. It should be used to complement an outfit. It is like perfume: A little bit is better than too much. Anna Sheffield has some lovely pieces on www.target.com. There is something for nearly everyone's taste if they are interested in the antique look at a reasonable price.

One of the nicest pieces I have is a very inexpensive crystal pendant necklace. Very elegant. I bought it at a cheap crystal kiosk.
