I bought a package of Annie Chun's, Roasted Seaweed Snacks, Sesame flavor, with a recent online order. I wanted to add an inexpensive snack to my order and at just a little over a dollar a pack Annie Chun's Seaweed fit the bill.
When I first took the package of Annie Chun's, Roasted Seaweed Snacks out of the box that was delivered I was surprised; it was as light as air. Literally, like it was empty. For some reason, due to the way it was packaged, I was kind of expecting a cracker type product. My fault for not fully reading the description. They are actually sheets of seaweed. I was still fine with that, but the packaging choice is horrible. I have purchased seaweed sheets before and they usually come sealed in a single plastic bag. These come standing in a plastic tray within a plastic/foil type bag. These could have easily been sealed in a plastic bag with a desiccant, saving a lot of waste.
If you didn't like seaweed before, texture wise, you might still not like these. They are papery thin and almost a fish skin like texture if you keep them in your mouth too long. If the taste of seaweed sheets had turned you off of seaweed you might want to at least try these. There is a mild sesame and salty taste which may distract you enough to enjoy these. The fishy seaweed taste, to me, is mild and the salty sesame flavor takes rule.
One of the things I really like about these Annie Chun's sesame seaweed snacks is that you can eat them and you wont have any guilt because they are not too high in calories and most importantly not highly processed. They have 30 calories, 2.5 grams of fat and 70 milligrams of sodium per 10 sheets. In addition to the vitamins and minerals that are naturally occurring in seaweed. There are only 2 servings per package. They probably wont fill you up but they will probably satisfy your craving to snack on something or satisfy your craving for something salty.
I like seaweed sheets and I like really like the savory flavor of these. However, for their poor choice in packaging I don't think I would buy these again. Well, I wont say never. I probably will buy them again at some point but they will not be not high on my list of seaweed sheets if there are other brand choices packaged with less packaging.
