As the search for Annie Le continues, investigators are using blood dogs and combing through landfills used by Yale University for garbage disposal. The bloody clothing found in a ceiling enclosure in the building where Annie Le was last seen is also being tested.
The Courant reports that the CRRA plant on Maxim Road in Hartford, CT is being searched to see if there is any evidence of Le's body in the landfill. This grim search must have Le's family and fiancé extremely distraught. To think that a brilliant, young 24-year-old woman could be killed and tossed away in the garbage must be painful beyond belief.
Since bloody clothing was found in a ceiling at the Yale medical building at 10 Amistad Street in New Haven, the tone of this search has changed. It appears the chances that Ms. Le just took off on her own have dwindled to slim to none and the possibility that she may have become a victim of foul play has increased.
Suzanne Jovin: Unsolved Murder at Yale, 1998
There is also another unsolved murder case of a Yale student who was killed in 1998. The NY Times reports that Suzanne Jovin, age 21 and a senior at Yale, was murdered in an upscale East Rock neighborhood near the Yale campus in 1998. The killer has not yet been identified.
Ms. Jovin's body had been stabbed 17 times. DNA has been recovered from under her fingernails; thus far no match has been made to the DNA. The DNA did not match that of the prime suspect according to the NY Times. Any information about the murder of Suzanne Jovin should be given to the New Haven Police at 1-866-888-TIPS.
Could there be a serial killer on the loose in New Haven? The families of Suzanne Jovin and Annie Le would surely like an answer to that question. These two young women were just beginning their adult lives. It is very tragic that all signs point to a possible murder of Annie Le. Suzanne Jovin has been laid to rest for many years now, but her murderer still walks free.
Someone out there must have information about these crimes. Please go to the police and tell them what you know. Help the families obtain closure and justice for these crimes.
Murder of Doctor at BellevueHospital, NYC
The disappearance of Annie Le reminds me of the long ago case still sometimes discussed in the media of a female doctor murdered in her office at Bellevue Hospital. Dr. Hinnant was five months pregnant when she was murdered. The NY Times reports it was a Saturday afternoon when Dr. Hinnant was killed. Thus the hospital offices were mostly closed.
In 1989, a homeless man named Steven Smith was convicted in the rape and murder of Dr. Kathryn Hinnant in Bellevue Hospital in NYC. The murderer testified "he was living in a machinery room on the hospital's 22nd floor and moved through the hospital freely dressed in surgical clothes and wearing a stethoscope" according to the NY Times.
Let's hope Annie Le is still alive and her case will have a happier outcome that that of Dr. Hinnant. It is alarming to think that women are not safe even at work in hospitals and laboratories which typically have quite high security.

Poor thing...found dead on her wedding day. At least they found her....but how awful for the poor family! Good job here.
my view is a staffer killed her. like a janitor.
They think she may have been found in a wall at Yale - just heard that this morning but the body hasn't been identified.
Good reporting on a sad, sad subject.
