CNN reports that Annie Le was "last seen outside the Yale School of Medicine building on 10 Amistad Street. She is Asian, 4'11, has brown hair, and weighs 90 pounds."
Annie Le left her purse, wallet, cell phone, apartment keys, money, and credit cards in the Yale Medical School Sterling Hall of Medicine building . The Yale Police department states that on 9/08/08, the day of her disappearance, she was wearing a "knee length brown skirt, bright green short sleeved t-shirt, brown shoes, and a brown necklace."
Le was supposed to marry at the North Ritz Club in Syosset, Long Island this Sunday. She has not contacted her fiancée since her disappearance. His name is Jonathan Widawsky and he is attending graduate school at Columbia University in New York City. The Yale Police say Widawsky is not a suspect in her disappearance.
Surveillance tapes from the building housing a research laboratory where Le was last working on the day of her disappearance do not show her leaving the building according to the Hartford Courant. All entrances and exits of the research lab are observed by video cameras for security. Police dogs have searched the area and the FBI and New Haven police are involved in the investigation.
Annie Le is studying to obtain a joint doctoral and medical degree from Yale University. The Hartford Courant reports that Annie Le's career goal is to work as an NIH investigator or a professor.
This story hits home for me. I used to often go to the buildings at Yale Medical School for meetings with authors during the decade when I worked in medical publishing. The research buildings are very secure and well monitored. I also remember having to show a lot of identification documents to get into the medical library.
The outside areas around the medical buildings are a bit iffy in terms of safety. I always felt a bit of anxiety when entering the nearby multi-story parking garage or when in the area after dark.
Let's hope Annie Le is safe and perhaps just having wedding jitters. Many people quoted in the media though say she seemed very joyful about her upcoming wedding and was very responsible and never would have just disappeared.

Post a Commentnice reporting!
Just keep her in your prayers and she will be home soon. He NEVER let's you down..
The amount of crime is terrible. One cannot be safe. Hope she turns up soon. Great reporting.
So sad!
Sadly, I'd bet the cops aren't trying too too hard and blowing it off as a case of cold feet. It seems cops like to do that kinda thing in a missing persons case and that time wasted is the critical hours. Every year it seems at least one college student goes missing. We didn't have that at UVa when I was there, just the prolific serial rapist who still has not been caught more than 10yrs later. But I digress, I hope something is found soon. Good article.
Could she have left the building in disquise? If the body was in the building it would smell by now. Take cadaver dogs in again and see if tracking dogs can follow her scent from lab to outside and reexamine films on that path. Bloody clothes could be a false clue.
Sad, I hope they find her. Maybe the reward money will help! Thanks for spreading the word...
I do hope she is found soon.
Do the tapes show her going in to the building? It sounds as if she went in and never came out...I do hope she is found quickly and alive.
I hope they can find her.
