How can you be gone
When I still see you so clear?
When I still can hear your voice,
How can it be a year?
I finally took those boxes to
The Goodwill yesterday.
Don't know why I felt so guilty
Like I'd just thrown you away.
I miss the talks we always had,
The way your laughter rolled.
If we're formed by those we love most
I'm so glad you were my mold.
I'm so sorry, Daddy, if
You were lonely in the end.
Oh Lord, the things that I would give,
To have that chance again!
But I know your forgiving heart,
Brimming with unconditional love,
Which I have no doubt was molded
Straight from that of the Father above.

Post a CommentThat is such a loving tribute to your father. I'm blessed to still have mine but my mother has gone on to be with the Lord. And yes, it brings us a sense of hope and peace to know that one day we'll meet up with them in glory. Thanks for the encouraging words and opening your heart to us.
