Ash, Katie. "The Halo 3 Question; Should the game be used in schools?." Digital Directions 01.03 (Jan 23, 2008): 8. Academic OneFile. Gale. Slippery Rock University-Bailey Library.

The ever popular game, Halo 3, is a game in which teachers and counselors are debating whether to use the game in schools. When playing the game, people learn skills like collaboration, cooperation, and problem-solving, but the question is whether or not the skills they learn are transferable to other situations, or are they just good in that context? I, personally think that it's worth a try, but I don't think it would last long in a school environment. The purpose of it would be defeated, and it would simply be used by the students for recreation purposes.

Glazer, Sarah. "Video Games. Do they have educational value?" CQ Researcher November 10, 2006: 939-959.

One of the big concerns in the gaming industry is if they have educational value or not. They don't have educational value in the aspect of school education, but they can definitely improve one's hand-eye coordination and some other subtle skills. Since children these days aren't physically active enough, these skills that would normally be improved playing sports and outdoor games, aren't being improved at all. Some video games help to do so.

Trout, Josh, and Brett Christie. "Interactive video games in physical education: rather than contribute to a sedentary lifestyle, these games demand activity from the players." JOPERD--The Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance 78.5 (May-June 2007): 29(7). Academic OneFile. Gale. Slippery Rock University-Bailey Library. 2 Mar. 2008

More and more these days, developers are trying to utilize physical activity in video games to combat the United States' obesity crisis and to get kids more active. Nintendo is one of these companies who is stepping up and creating games that involve physical activity. The popular console, Wii, has a game coming out called "Wii Fit" where the player exercises. It is similar to the popular "Dance Dance Revolution" arcade game.
