Renaissance Faire

Each year during the first or second week of November Mobile Renaissance Festival takes the field at local fair grounds and venues. Each year the faire brings medieval life back with jousting knights, performing wizards, fire breathers and medieval activities. Besides the historical sites, visitors can enjoy renaissance themed food and drink and visit merchant booths. Admission is reasonably priced and this venue is appropriate for children of all ages. Alabama Pecan Festival

The Alabama Pecan Festival is another permanent fixture on the Alabama fair and festival scene. This fair visits at the end of October or the beginning of January. At this tasty festival, the pecan is the star but lots of other goodies are available too. Besides the pecan pralines and pies you can enjoy local singing talent and performance artists. Carnival rides will thrill the children and local crafters present their wares in the nearby Tilman's Corner Community Center. Admission is free and the venue lasts for four days. Shrimp Festival

Sponsored by the Alabama Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, the Annual National Shrimp Festival is a seafood lover's delight. Located on the beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama the Shrimp Festival has tons of this fresh seafood served in a variety of ways. Eat your shrimp boiled, fried or steamed by themselves or on a bun. The Shrimp Festival supports local artists by allowing them to showcase their work to the public.
