King's Wok is a Chinese restaurant located on 650 E. Main Street in Anoka, Minnesota. Although it's scarcely noticeable -- it's a very small, understated restaurant -- King's Wok isn't what it appears to be. This Chinese restaurant is a hidden gem inside downtown Anoka, with the best, flavorful authentic Chinese food you'll find in Minnesota. The prices are very cheap too, which is why this restaurant is the best place to visit for authentic Chinese food in the Twin Cities. Here's how it stacks up.

King's Wok Appearance 2/5
I'll admit, the decor isn't very captivating. King's Wok is a small, understated Chinese restaurant, only differentiated by a big, white sign saying King's Wok. It's scarcely decorated with a regular restaurant set up, and maybe this is bad for some folks -- we're visual creatures, after all -- but it's fairly unimportant when you consider what you're getting. They've left the restaurant design plain, but the food makes up for it.

King's Wok Food 5/5
This restaurant is such a treasure trove. Now I've been to Asia -- I've had Chinese food, I know how it's supposed to taste like. I didn't think finding Chinese food in Minnesota was even possible. It's either salt this to death or add the MSG, yadda yadda yadda. King's Wok, however, is not this. This is why it stands out from other Chinese restaurants in Minnesota. It's simply authentic, delicious food.

When I first visited, I ordered a plate of Kung Pao chicken and my fiance ordered General Tso's chicken. About 10 to 15 minutes after ordering, our server came with two huge plates of chicken, generously sliced. It came with a huge amount of rice (I'd say 2-3 cups) and a vegetable egg roll.

The Kung Pao chicken looked heavenly. It was rich brown, layered in a spicy sauce with nuts and celery. My mouth burned when I ate it (Kung Pao's supposed to be spicy) and I loved it. 3/4 of my plate was filled with Kung Pao chicken, and I had trouble finishing it. Now I'm a big eater, so this is pretty remarkable. I ended up asking for a take-out box and ate the rest later.

As for my fiance's General Tso's chicken, it was fried just right, drenched in a dark rich General Tso's sauce. The cuts were huge -- I could barely fit it into my mouth -- and it was sweet, rich, and slightly spicy. The chicken was so moist and we both loved it. He couldn't finish his plate either.

The rice was okay (I've had better), and the egg roll tasted good to me. It does have cabbage, so if you're not a huge cabbage eater, you should request it taken out.

All in all though, the food was exceptionally delicious. This was real authentic Chinese food to me, something that I missed for ages. King's Wok gets 5 stars because they are probably the best Chinese restaurant in Minnesota.

King's Wok Price 5/5

I would venture to say that King's Wok is too cheap, even for Chinese food. King's Wok is a fairly undiscovered restaurant (it's never busy), and it's really a shame. The food was delicious, and that made up for everything else.

Their entree prices range from $4.00 to $13.00, but usually falls between $6.00 to $10.00. You're getting a lot for this price, and you'll be lucky if you finish it. King's Wok is a super cheap restaurant, and for all this great food, I'd daresay it's a ripoff. I think this is only because it's undiscovered, mostly due to their location.

King's Wok Service 5/5

Our server and cashier was extremely pleasant, although she isn't great with English. You can still understand her, but there is a slight language barrier. I can understand Asian dialects easier than other (I grew up in a Korean household), but if you're strictly an English speaker, it'll create a barrier. It's not a huge inconvenience, but it's something to note.

We also got our food quickly. 10-15 minutes tops. That's fast for a Chinese restaurant. It's cooked fresh when you order, so that's extremely remarkable.

Final Verdict: 17/20

King's Wok gets a 17/20 stars because this is best Chinese restaurant in Minnesota. Guaranteed. The food is authentic, it's fresh and juicy, and you're getting so much for so cheap. King's Wok is a fairly undiscovered restaurant, so it's always quiet and nice, especially during cool summer days. If you want to taste delicious, authentic Chinese food in Minnesota, I recommend you check out King's Wok, located in quiet downtown Anoka.

Thanks for the review! I love Chinese food, but haven't been able to find a favorite one in the Twin Cities suburbs. I'll have to try this out!
