Anoop Desai Dims All the Lights on Making it to Final Five on American Idol

Anoop Desai has changed his look, but it is apparent that he just does not have the talent to hang around with the top four of this competition. If this was between Anoop, Matt and Lil, he would have a shot. However, there are 4 other contestants that are just flat out better than those three.

This is not to say that Anoop is not talented, the kid can sing but he is going to need some direction in order to get through at the next level. Someone will latch onto him and sign him as soon as he is off the show and unfortunately for him, that is probably going to be in the next 24 hours.

Anoop sang Dim All the Lights and while he sang a quality version of the song, it just didn't have any definition. Was it a ballad? Was it meant to be up-tempo? I just shook my head and had no clue where he was going with this song. And once again, the clumsy stage movements kill his performance. You can complain all you want about this being a vocal show, but it also about creating an Idol. I am not sure what that half-hearted clapping was that he did, but he would have been better off leaving that out of his performance.

The vote on Wednesday is going to come down to Anoop, Matt and Lil. Lil was horrible and has no shot of staying alive unless Vote for the Worst keeps her there. Assuming that they cannot get enough votes in, Anoop will be battling it out with Matt. Neither of these singers has a big following and Anoop has been in the bottom with some decent performances. My guess would be that we are going to lose him this week.

Now Anoop has no reason to hang his head. He has performed the best that he can, but he is up against what is probably the best cast ever on this show. The fact is that he needs someone to work with him and polish him up a little bit. If he wants to be successful, he is going to have to get some work on his vocals and a lot of work on his stage presence. He lasted as long as he could, but this is the end of the road for Anoop. He could not have picked a more appropriate song for his finale.
