This my second article on the subject of an affordable gift bag for a nursing home resident. If you would like to read my first article on the subject, you may click here.
It is your decision whether or not to individually wrap each gift before you put it in the gift bag.
Address Book: An address book might be a nice gift to include in the affordable gift bag for a nursing home resident. Perhaps after you give the address book to the gift recipient you might offer to write the names and addresses of the gift recipient's family members and friends in the address book for them.
Mini Packets of Facial Tissues: Mini packets of facial tissues can come in handy and might be a nice gift to include in the affordable gift bag. These facial tissues can be used to wipe a nose, cover a sneeze, etc. They are convenient because they take up a small amount of space and can be easily carried in a pocket or pocketbook. My sister, who lives in a nursing home, always likes to carry a mini packet of facial tissues in her pocketbook.
Magazine: Perhaps the nursing home resident would enjoy receiving a magazine in the affordable gift bag. Some magazine choices might include the gift recipient's favorite magazine, a magazine on a topic they enjoy, etc.
Socks: If the nursing home resident wears socks, a package of socks or a pair of socks that they like to wear might be a nice gift to include in the affordable gift bag. There are many different types and styles of socks available, so it would be a good idea to know what type of socks the nursing home resident uses before you make your purchase.
Mini Photo Album Filled with Photos: Maybe the nursing home resident would enjoy receiving a mini photo album with some photos of family members and friends. If you attended a special function at the nursing home with your family member or friend and took some photos you might choose to include these photos in the mini photo album. Other photos that you may want to include are photos from a holiday celebration, photos of grandchildren, etc.
Pocket Calendar: The nursing home resident might like to receive a pocket calendar in the affordable gift bag you give to them. This pocket calendar can be carried in a pocketbook, left in a dresser drawer, etc. The gift recipient can use the pocket calendar to keep track of the various activities that they would like to participate in at the nursing home, various appointments, etc.
Hope that this article gave you some ideas on what gifts you might want to include in the affordable gift bag you create for the nursing home resident in your life.
