Another Eminem Album in 2009: Relapse 2 Set for Fall Release

Eminem will follow up his 2009 best seller, Relapse, with another album entitled Relapse 2, later in 2009. The album is finished according to Eminem and Relapse 2 will hit the shelves for sure this year. This has got to be exciting for fans, and Eminem is making good with Relapse and Relapse 2, because he was away for so long. Fans get two Eminem albums in one year, what could be better?

The last time Eminem released two albums this close apart, was when he released the Slim Shady LP in 1999, and quickly followed up with the Marshall Mathers LP in 2000. It is unclear whether Dr.Dre will produce most of the tracks on Relapse 2, like he did on Relapse. Two new Eminem albums in one year means a lot of touring and work for Eminem, hopefully he can handle the workload. The new album Relapse has done well selling over a million copies so far, it was recently bumped off of the top of the charts though. It will most likely be the top selling album of 2009, even though it has sold considerably less copies then his previous albums. This is most likely do to the rampant piracy that has swept the internet in recent years, and forced record sales to dwindle down. Lower numbers have been reported by just about every artist, and the industry as a whole.

Slim Shady definitely came back hard on Relapse, although I feel the new album Relapse 2 will have a completely different side of Eminem. I really don't know what to expect with Relapse 2, and I actually think he should have just released Relapse as a double disk, instead of cutting it up into two albums. But more record sales equals more cash, so I can see the logic behind waiting to release Relapse 2.

Eminem even confirmed the album coming out on Relapse, with a skit with Steve Berman. Eminem lays down two CDs infront of Steve, saying they are both going to come out. The fact that he layed both down at the same time, means that Relapse 2 is probably completed, and it will hit the shelves sometime later in the year.

In conclusion, Eminem will release Relapse 2 in the second half of 2009, the new album will come after 50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct. It is uncleaer whether Dr.Dre's album, Detox will come before or after Relapse 2, or maybe at the same time. Either way, 2009 has been a huge year for Shady/Aftermath records so far, and will continue to be in the second half of 2009.
