The House voted 220-211 on the health care bill that assures 32 million Americans will have health insurance coverage and millions more would be protected against losing theirs. The bill's fate now lies on the Senate for final approval; where it only requires a simple majority to pass.
Health Care Reform 2010 tends to eliminate targeted provisions for specific states in the main health care bill. It also contains an education provision that tops the domestic priorities of President Obama. It will also increases college assistance for financially qualified students and will end government reliance on private lenders, or banks for sky-rocketing education loans.
Well, it's a good thing that the bill is finally done with its critical stage. And, now we can be at peace knowing that a new
Republicans are not so happy with this developmemt.
"Just because it's historic doesn't mean it is good," said Rep. Peter Roskam-R of the 6th District of Illinois.
Republicans strongly opposed the legislation, arguing that it is too expensive and that it will give the government much power on the health care system. They also argued that the majority Democrats have rammed the bill through, avoiding GOP policy suggestions.
The very reason why President Obama hosted the Bi-Partisan meeting last February 25, was to get the Republicans', as well as the Democrats views on fundamentals and structural problems that are hampering the economy and the health care system.Through that meeting Democrats and Republicans found areas of agreement on important issues like: preventing waste and fraud in Medicare and Medicaid, thereby addressing medical malpractice reform; reforming the insurance market; and giving individuals more choices in coverage, and enabling the small businesses to access opportunities to pool coverage for their employees. So, it isn't true that Democrats rammed the bill through and avoided GOP policy suggestions and recommendations.
What the Democrats are saying "Republicans simply just refuse to negotiate because, they just enjoy politicking and giving President Obama a hard time achieving something historical as the Health Care Reform 2010.
Sources also said that the past administrations from Former President George W. Bush and the others; most of the past administrations, along with the House and the Senate dreamed of restructuring the United States health care system. It was just that, none of them succeeded.
This historical bill will make health care more affordable for everybody; will make health insurers more accountable; expand health coverage to all Americans, and will make the health system truly sustainable, that will help stabilize family budget, federal budget and will improve the economy substantially by:
- Making insurance more affordable;
- It will set new competitive health insurance market; brings greater accountability to health care;
- It will end discrimination against Americans with pre-existing conditions; and
- Will put our budget and economy on a more stable path by reducing the deficit by $100 billion over the next ten years - and about $1 trillion over the second decade - by cutting government overspending and reining in waste, fraud and abuse.
The U.S. Chief Executive delivered a statement right after the vote, saying that the "reform" is the "right thing to do" for families, seniors, businesses, workers and the future and "another stone firmly laid in the foundation of the American dream."
"The United States Congress finally declared that America's workers and America's families and small businesses deserve the security of knowing that here in this country neither illness nor accident should endanger the dreams they worked a lifetime to achieve," President Obama said.
Now that the House voted YES to President Obama's Healt Care Bill, I wonder what will happen to the famous hate radio commentator, Rush Limbaugh. It can be recalled that he promised to leave the country once the House signed the bill to law. Does Mr. Limbaugh really mean what he said? Well, if it is true, his bags might have been packed already. I'm sure many would be racing to be the first to send Mr. Limbaugh a "bon voyage," as he flies to Costa Rica, just as he promised.
