Lost Episode 4.04 "Eggtown" revealed in the last seconds that the son Kate referred to several times throughout this past episode was Aaron. Now the coming attractions from the week before revealed that we would be introduced to another member of the Oceanic 6 but many are skeptical that Aaron counts as such. I myself do not like to read spoilers for Lost, but last week I accidently read an article with spoilers that pinpointed Jin and Sun as the last two survivors to make up the Oceanic 6, but then "Eggtown" revealed that in the future Aaron is in the care of Kate.
Now we all know that these flash forwards have given us mere morsels of what the future holds for the Oceanic survivors, so there are many possibilities as to who Aaron actually is and whether or not he counts as one of the Oceanic 6. Here are some possible explanations for what happened between Island time and the future.
Aaron is actually Kate's son:
From the last two episodes of season three and throughout season four thus far, several conversations have been held that have alluded to the fact that Kate might be pregnant. We have no idea what took place between her leaving Sawyers house that morning, and the end of her trial during the flash forwards. It is a very good possibility that Kate was pregnant, that she had Sawyers baby (which could explain why Jack doesn't want to see the baby) and that she named him Aaron after Claire's baby on the Island.
Claire Gave Aaron to Kate:
We find out in one of the flash forwards in "Eggtown" that the official story that the Oceanic 6 are telling the pubic is that 8 passengers survived the plane crash, however two of them died before they were rescued. It is possible that either something happened to Claire or that Claire made the decision to have the Oceanic 6 take Aaron back to civilization. By saying that Aaron is Kate's son, a story must have been developed that Kate was pregnant and had her child while on the island. Naming Aaron as her son also leads fans to believe that he may not be one of the Oceanic 6 because technically he wasn't a passenger on the plane when it crashed.
Aaron needed care that the Island couldn't provide:
Now I can't say for sure if it was just bad camera angles, or if there is something truly wrong with Aaron, but in the flash forward, the little boy looked as if he had medical problems such as downs syndrome or mental retardation. In episode 4.03 "The Economist" through Daniel's experiment we find out that island time moves slower than normal time, therefore it is only fair to assume that this time variance causes developmental issues (women cannot survive pregnancy on the island) This time variance may slow Aaron's development to the point where he develops a condition. Because of this, he may need to leave the island without Claire in order to get better care.
On the other hand, this could be argued because the Island is supposed to have healing powers so why would Aaron suffer from any ailments whatsoever. Many believe that Aaron has a deeper connection with the island than any of the other castaways. First off he was the first child ever to be born on the island, and many believe that he is the official son of the island (the island leader is named Jacob and in the bible Aaron was Jacob's son) So there are a lot of different possibilities as to what Aaron may be suffering from.
~
It seems as if each new episode brings about more questions than answers, and whether or not Aaron is the son of Claire or the son of Kate and whether or not he is an official member of the Oceanic 6 is yet to be determined. The age of Aaron in this episode indicates that the survivors might not get off the island for quite some time (I don't really see the court system delaying Kate's trial for two to three years after her return), so this shows us that a lot could happen to affect the decision for Aaron to leave the island without Claire (if that is in fact what happened). I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens!

did you see my 06 article on the top content page? check it out, nto quite right, but i took a stab at it!
I love Lost!!!
I don't think Aaron is one of the Oceanic 6. I think that Aaron is Claires and she died in the helicopter or fell out somehow (don't ask me how, i have no idea!), and Jack had the option to save one or the other and he saved Aaron thats why he can't see the child! Desmond had a vision that both Claire and Aaron got onto the helicopter and he told Charlie that wouldn't happen if he was still alive!
Ack, I can't remember what I did yesterday so I get easily confused with Lost!! :D
Im lost as far as the plot cause. sorry. I just like Kate. :)
Aaron isn't likely to be an official Oceanic 6, just like Ben isn't. Damon and Carlton did say that we would know the entire Oceanic 6 roster by the end of episode 7, though.
I've never really gotten into Lost, but there is a girl I used to work with who wouldn't work on the nights when Lost aired.
Never seen this. Thanks!
I'll just read your articles and save the time.
This is exactly why I don't watch tv!
I love Lost, but it is so confusing sometimes. They keep opening up new cans of worms all the time, with out answering questions from a while back.
