Another Poem Some People Will Have to Understand

Read 99 City by Travis Craig

Etienne J. Sarfelli

I don't ever want to work that hard

Taxing my brain on the things

You intellectuals write about

Okay, that's what I say,

But the truth is I couldn't if I tried

You write about things I don't "get"

I get my blue eyes from heredity

I get fat when I eat too many carbs

Sometimes I even get tired when I've worked

for twenty hours in a row

But I simply don't comprehend

All the things people like you write about

And of course you know who you are

You write eight-hundred- plus word discourses

And I write fluff and stuff

You write about things that give me thrills and chills

Things that make the world stand still and take notice

I do not have the ability to sit still long enough

To read eight-hundred-plus words

Let alone the capacity to put that many words together

In a way that would make sense

People like you blow my mind

I stand in awe of you

I can only aspire to one day

Maybe have the possible brain function to write

Something that even partly resembles your writing in length and content

But for now I'll just have to stand in the shadows of your brilliance

And be what I am.... Short and sweet

and quite often nonsensical
