Another UFC Fighter Dead

Sandra Essary
In mid-December, 28-year old UFC fighter Justin Levins and his wife Sarah were found shot to death in their home in an apparent murder-suicide. Now another UFC fighter, 30-year old Justin Eilers was murdered on the day after Christmas, dying of a single gunshot wound to the chest. The suspect, James Malec, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is allegedly Eilers' mom's boyfriend; Malec owns the house in which the incident took place.

Justin Mark Eilers was raised in Boise, Idaho. He participated in football and wrestling in high school. He trained in the Miletich System of martial arts and competed in a few local MMA bouts, where he met Jens Pulver. Pulver encouraged Eilers to go into MMA competition full-time.

After winning a number of fights, many of which ended in KO, UFC signed Eilers to a contract. Eilers' first fight in the UFC was against veteran Dan Severn. The decision went to Severn. His record in the UFC was spotty, and in 2006 the UFC released him. He went on to win a number of fights primarily by TKO and submission by striking. His last fight was against Antonio Silva in July 2008, which Eilers lost by TKO.

Both Levins and Eilers lived in California. Both fought in the UFC and other organized mixed martial arts competitions such as the Elite XC/Challenger Series, WEC, and IFL. Eilers had a career fighting record of 19 wins, 7 losses, and 1 draw.

Caught this on the news as well as the murder/suicide. Sadly, the trend seems to be the same as in the WWE.

oh, how sad. I really don't understand all this murder and mayhem. People don't seem to know how to laugh at themselves any more. Everything is just taken too seriously and then these are the consequences. Lighten up and take it easy America.
