Anquan Boldin Injured with Sprained Ankle, Could Miss Arizona Playoff Game
Arizona Cardinals Wide Receiver Anquan Boldin was Injured in Sunday's Game
The injury to Anquan Boldin is not a serious injury, which is a lucky break to both Boldin and the Cardinals. Unfortunately though, it is one of those nagging injuries that can pester a player for weeks, and doesn't just heal over night. The Anquan Boldin injury is being called a sprained ankle, and for anyone who has ever had a sprained ankle, you know that it is one of those injuries that can just hang around. It's also one of those injuries that seem to heal miraculously over night, so while it does tend to have a short shelf-life, it's almost impossible to predict how soon Boldin will be ready to go again.
Arizona plays host to Green Bay on Sunday, January 10th in the first round of the 2010 NFC Playoffs. The start time for the game is 1:40 P.M. PST and it will be broadcast on Fox for fans to watch. The one small break that Arizona has here is that Boldin then has one extra day to rest because they don't have to play on Saturday. It still doesn't mean he is going to be ready, and right now the team isn't confident that he will be ready, or that he will make it to practices this week. It's nowhere near as bad as the severe knee injury that Wes Welker suffered against the Houston Texans on Sunday, which could keep Welker out until 2011.
Anquan Boldin is currently listed as "questionable" for Sunday's game, but the optimism is not there that he will play. Boldin has 84 catches on the season to go along with 1,024 yards in 15 games, and is one-half of quite possibly the best tandems of receivers in the NFL. The Florida State product has put up five seasons of more than 1,000 yards since getting drafted by Arizona, and is one of the key reasons they made it to the Super Bowl last year. Arizona fans now have to hope that Larry Fitzgerald can pick up the slack, and that quarterback Kurt Warner has a great game left in him to help overcome this injury situation.
