Here in Colorado we have some of the best pizza places on earth, but many of them such as Old Chicago's and Beau Jo's feature gourmet or non-traditional, gourmet style of pizza pie. Anthony's pizza on the other hand advertises New York style pizza, and that is exactly what they deliver. I have only been to Manhattan once, but because I consider myself a pizza connoisseur, my first New York meal was pizza. While eating pizza in New York, I honestly looked to my wife and said "This reminds me of Anthony's back home." If that is not authentic, I don't know what is.
At Anthony's pizza you can buy pizza by the slice or by the whole pie. Pizza slices are $2.30 for a thin slice (Neapolitan) or $2.95 (Sicilian) for a thick slice with toppings costing only $.30 a piece. That is a steal for a piece of pizza that fills both a plate and a stomach. You can also buy a whole pizza, which is the better deal. An 18" pizza costs $14.45 for a Neapolitan or $24.95 for a Full Sicilian. You can then purchase individual toppings on those as well.
Anthony's is known for the pizza, but they also offer a selection of heroes, pastas, and salads. My personal favorite is the Eggplant Parmesan Hero; for $6.50, it is hard to find a better sandwich. All of Anthony's Pizza's Heroes are the same price and quality. You can also grab a pasta dinner complete with marinara sauce and garlic bread for under $7.00. As you can see, Anthony's Pizza offers quality and economy.
There are several locations of Anthony's Pizza throughout Denver and the Colorado Front Range. My personal Anthony's of choice is located at 13700 E. Colfax Ave. # I, in Aurora, but you can find them at 9 other locations throughout the Mile High City. At all of the locations (except the one located on Buckley Air Force Base), you can dine-in, get carryout, or get delivery. For the dine-in experience, you will not only get a taste of New York, but you will get the feel of New York. The Anthony's Pizza Restaurants feel like they were plucked out of a New York Borough and snuck into Denver. They are small, family friendly pizzerias with a traditional feel and look.
At every location I have visited, I have always had consistently friendly service and no hassles. They do get busy however, especially at the Aurora location after the local little league or softball games let out.
If you like pizza (and who doesn't), and you are looking for an authentic New York style pie in the heart of the Southwest, then Anthony's Pizza is the place for you. Whether it is by the slice or by the pie, you will get a pizza that will satisfy any budget or hunger.
