Anti-oxidants in Chocolate
This Commentary on the Anti-oxidant Benefits of Chocolate was Originally Published on Factoidz.Com
ScienceDaily reports the higher the actual cocoa content in your chocolate, the higher the antioxidant capacity, due to the naturally occurring "flavonoids." These flavonoids carry the antioxidant procyanidin. Antioxidants are, of course, the single primary benefit of chocolate and other cocoa-enhanced confections, other than the taste. Protection from free radicals seems the easiest, most efficient way the human body has to defend itself from disease. With the body only being as strong as any single cell, every additional wall of defense is, yet added to the front on infection of communicable diseases.
The chocolate experts at Hershey are publishing a release commenting on the presence of polyphenols in cocoa and chocolate - a compound with antioxidant properties similar to those found in fruits and vegetables. The cocoa bean itself, is a product of organic vegetables themselves (trees), after all. The very fat within the plant itself is, the very type of fat most doctors might recommend more people keep in their bloodstream, for energy.
Prevention.com lays out the news flash that, as far as the cocoa capacity of dark chocolate, Dove Dark is so rich in "Cocopro Cocoa," as to be used in medical research. Price point on the benefits received from eating the darkest, richest, highest percentage of cocoa possible, more than offsets the upfront price for Dove Dark. Even a product costing more of an initial outlay pays for itself, since in being used, lees product is needed.
Don't discount the sheer power of simple, basic, fundamental pleasure. The occasional, well-timed treat can be so relaxing and calming to the human body that, even instances of headache (and aches and malaise in general) relief are not unheard of! Pure pleasure, along with pain itself, is one of the most basic drives of a person's self-esteem and state-of-mind. Just being able to merely enjoy something so simple as good old-fashioned chocolate might be just what the doctor ordered!

Post a CommentDonald, I'm so happy scientists are no longer on the bandwagon that tells us everything we enjoy in life is bad for our health. I hate fads and I hate idiocy.
love chocoate, thanks!
Chocolate is one of the best 'comfort foods' out there. Just avoid the ones that are overly processed and have additives such as high fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated vegetable oil.
And this is why I am so healthy!!! ;-)
I always knew chocolate was good for ya!
That's good because I'm not about to give up my chocolate.
I don't need an excuse to eat chocolate!
At last! Something that doesn't taste like crabgrass is good for you!
Give me chocolate..NOW!! (kidding...) (No, not really, I'm serious!) :-)
Despite what I wrote on your last article, I do eat Dove Dark chocolate once in a while for the health benefits (OK, fine SOMETIMES I get a taste for chocolate).
