Green tea and cranberry juice are loaded with antioxidants. It wasn't long ago when people reached for a soda and a bag of chips for an afternoon pick-me-up, but if you'll notice, green tea or cranberry juice and nuts have become the most popular choices of today.
People are wising up to the fact that nuts are full of heart-healthy omega 3 acids and green tea and cranberry juice is full of antioxidants. Likely as not, you are aware of what is contained in sodas and chips or candy bars. Lab tests where green tea was added to samples of a cold virus, showed that it actually stopped it from replicating.
Garlic has been a well-known powerful antioxidant for several years. They're also easy to grow. Simply make a hole in the soil (pot or ground) put in a little water, drop in a clove of garlic, cover with dirt, water again, and there you have it. Before long, you'll have your own little garlic plant. Don't worry, they don't smell on the plant the way they do when you use them. The garlic plants not only provide you with healthy garlic, they also repel insects.
According to the most recent studies, the most powerful antioxidant benefits can be found in cranberries. This amazing berry has been proven to improve circulation, lower cholesterol, flush out and clean the urinary tract and it's good for the heart. One single serving of cranberry juice a day can greatly improve your overall health.
Dark green veggies such as spinach and kale are high in antioxidants. Carrots are a good source as well. Tomatoes are not only high in antioxidants, but one of the best sources of lycopene, which is a potent cancer fighter. Recently, experts say that most of the lycopene is in the skin. In view of that, grape and cherry tomatoes offer more skin.
Also, pomegranates are receiving wide spread attention lately for their potent antioxidants. Red wine, in moderation, is said to be full of antioxidants, but it comes from the skin of the grape. White wine has the skin removed. So red grapes are a good source for antioxidants.
Pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts and macadamia nuts fight free radicals linked to certain cancers, not to mention the strong omega 3's they offer. A small portion in the palm of your hand about the size of a half dollar should be added to your daily diet to help lower your cholesterol and protect your heart.
Eating healthy doesn't mean sacrificing good foods. There are delicious foods available that can boost your immune system, bring life back to your hair and skin, and simply make you all around healthier. Be informed. Educate yourself on the best food sources and the worse food choices and live a healthier life. You'll look and feel better.
