AntiVirus Soft Removal Guide

What is this AntiVirus Soft? Malware or Virus?
AntiVirus Soft is a virus that takes over your computer with fake security alerts. Not only does AntiVirus Soft disable your real Anti Virus Software it will also holds your computer ransom to try and get you to purchase their scam AntiVirus Soft program.

Don't bother trying to open ccleaner, Malwarebytes, SpyBot S&D or any Anti Virus program because it will give another fake pop-up stating that the file is infected. It's an annoying scam and virus!

Grab your coffee and Excedrin, I'll walk you through how to get it off your computer. These are the steps I took after every other bit of advice I found on the internet failed.

We're going to download Microsoft Security Essentials first. If you already have that on your computer, you can skip to the next step.

Getting AntiVirus Soft off your Computer- Rebooting in safe mode
1) Restart your computer.
2) When it starts booting start smacking the F8 key repeatedly.
3) A black screen with white print will come up. Scroll up to "Safe Mode with Networking". Hit enter.
4) Open firefox and download Microsoft Security Essentials.
5) When it is done downloading, install it on your computer.

NOTE: If you are using Internet Explorer, click on tools> internet options, then select the tab for "connection". Click on the "LAN Settings" button. Uncheck "Use Proxy Server for Your LAN" and then click the "OK" button.

Let the Fun Begin!
Reboot your computer again letting it start in regular mode. Sign in to your account but make sure you read the next part first.

As soon as your windows screen starts to open you will need to double click the little Microsoft Security Essentials icon at the bottom of your screen. You need to do this QUICKLY. If you don't, then AntiVirus Soft processes will start running, disable Microsoft Security Essentials and refuse to let you open it. Doing this before AntiVirus Soft has a chance to start running will ensure that you can open Microsoft Security Essentials.

If you are a little slow on this, reboot again until you get it. (Don't worry, I missed it the first time and AntiVirus Soft blocked me.)

Once Microsoft Security Essentials is running, the AntiVirus Soft pop-ups will continue. Ignore them.

In the Microsoft Security Essentials "update" tab, click the "update" button and let it update. Shortly after updating a warning will pop-up stating your computer is infected by an internet virus.

BE ALERT! The AntiVirus Soft program will have a pop-up that shows up at just about the same time. Don't let it fool you! Make sure the box you are selecting says "Microsoft Security Essentials" on the blue bar. If it doesn't, ignore it!

The Microsoft Security Essentials box will have a button for "clean computer". Click on it and sit back. The file it found on my computer was Win32/FakeSpypro. Let Microsoft Security Essentials do it's thing. It will ask if you want to reboot. Say yes!

When I rebooted my computer, AntiVirus Soft was gone and I haven't seen it since then.

  • AntiVirus Soft is a computer virus.
  • AntiVirus Soft will hold your computer ransom.
  • You don't need to download a lot of programs to get rid of it. Only One.
Malwarebytes, SpyBot S&D and Avast did not find this virus on my computer even after I updated them. If you delete the program manually, it will reinstall itself.

Oh that's not fun! It took me about 2 days of trying to get rid of the virus to figure this one out. It was BAD. I was about to just toss the computer under a rolling semi and start over.

Good advice. There are a few of these annoying viruses that cause a lot of grief. I had to deal with a couple several years ago. Ended up having to boot the PC using an Ubuntu CD and deleting the files from the hard drive that way.

This was a great article - I almost missed this one. There is a glitch with the email notifications, I know AC is working on it - but this article should be featured so that no one misses this :) Cheers.
