Ants Have Taken Over My Kitchen - What Can I Do?

Lance Esondi
After winter, ant activity starts to be seen in and around the home much more than other parts of the year. This can become a problem when ants will start to be all over your kitchen counter tops. They might seem to be hard to get rid of but with a few simple tricks you should be able to get rid of these ants quickly.

You need to make a few changes in the kitchen to be sure that you deal with your ant problem. These changes don't require much work at all. The trash is a source of ant activity. There are foods in there that the ants can get to. Each night take about whatever garbage that you have in the kitchen. This limits what the ants can eat.

Clean everything up on the counters as best as you can. There might be sugary residue left that needs to be wiped up that the ants are getting to.

The food in your cupboards might be attracting the ants to your kitchen. Go through everything and make sure it's sealed up. You may have to put food items into containers that seal.

Ant baits are a good way of killing the ants in the kitchen. Be careful about what types that you choose to use. The chemical baits are technically human safe but you don't want too many of these around your food. You might consider the organic or natural alternative baits instead of the chemical ones.

Look at the trails that the ants are making and find the source of their activity. Use these baits in these areas to help kill off the problem so that you can limit the ants in your home.

If you continue to perform these steps, your ant problems will be gone in a few short weeks.
