AP Top 25 College Football Rankings (Week 8): Oregon Ducks New No. 1

The Associated Press has released its AP Top 25 college football rankings for Week 8, and the Oregon Ducks (6-0) are the nation's new No. 1 team. Previously No. 2 and idle this week, Oregon assumes the top spot after the Wisconsin Badgers upset last week's No. 1 team, Ohio State, by a score of 31-18.

Joining the Oregon Ducks in the Top 10 of the AP college football rankings are the Boise State Broncos, Oklahoma Sooners, TCU Horned Frogs, Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Michigan State Spartans, Utah Utes, and Wisconsin Badgers.

Previously unbeaten Ohio State drops ten places to No. 11 in the AP Top 25 college football rankings after its loss to Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Badgers (6-1), formerly No. 18, rise eight places to No. 10. The Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-1), also previously unbeaten, plummeted nine places to No. 14 after losing to the Texas Longhorns. The Nevada Wolf Pack (6-1), also undefeated until this week, fell out of the AP Top 25 rankings after losing to the Hawaii Warriors.

The South Carolina Gamecocks (4-2), which rose to No. 10 last week as a result of defeating Alabama, dropped ten places to No. 20 after losing to the Kentucky Wildcats. The Arkansas Razorbacks (4-2) fell nine places to No. 21 after giving up 65 points in a loss to the No. 5 Auburn Tigers.

The Florida Gators (4-3), No. 22 last week, dropped out of the APTop 25 college football rankings after losing to Mississippi State by a score of 10-7. Last week's No. 23 team, Air Force, also fell from the AP Top 25rankings after its loss to San Diego State. The Oregon State Beavers (3-3), No. 24 last week, also fell from the AP Top 25 poll after a double overtime loss to the Washington Huskies.

Texas, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, and Miami (FL) enter the AP Top 25 poll this week. The Texas Longhorns (4-2) are No. 22 after defeating Nebraska. Virginia Tech (5-2) is No. 23 after crushing ACC foe Wake Forest. Mississippi State ranks No. 24 after its signature win over the Florida Gators. Finally, Miami (FL) (4-2) comes in at No. 25 after defeating Duke by a score of 28-13.
