Apartheid in Darby, PA: What Happens when "Outsiders" Run Your Town

Strategists in the National Party invented apartheid as a means to cement their control over the economic and social system. In Darby, Strategists in the Delaware County Democratic Committee and Republican Leaders in other towns, re-invented it as a means to cement THEIR control over our economic, social system, and our quality of life. Our current elected officials in Darby, have given their blessing and allowed this "Darby form of Apartheid" to manifest and spread.

One of 3 lawyers that are paid by Darby Borough residents, lives in a home valued at over a quarter million dollars in the Borough of Rose Valley. He "claims" that Darby is "moving forward". This man has no clue what it's like to have his home attached to one that is totally collapsed inside from the roof to the basement. Open doors, windows, walls that have crumbled. Why? Because "outsiders" have not cemented their control over the economic system of Rose Valley. Rose Valley is controlled by the residents.

The second, of 3 lawyers that is paid by the residents of Darby Borough, lives in a home valued almost at a quarter of a million dollars in Springfield. He too "claims good things are happening". (well at least when he writes letters for The council and the Mayor and attributes the content to them). Ray Santarelli doesn't have a clue what it's like to live on a block that has 3 open abandoned homes with weeds over 4 feet high. He doesn't have a clue what it's like to walk past and see heroin and crack addicts huddling inside. Would Springfield allow open abandoned homes that harbor rodents and drug users? The Borough Administrator, also the Chairman of the Aston Republican Party lives in Aston whose taxes are much lower than the taxes and fees he institutes for Darby residents. He is also a Republican Aston Township Commissioner. He ensures the taxes for Aston are within reason for his residents because he LIVES there. But, for Darby, he has no idea what it's like to be a senior citizen, a working class family or a single parent household who has to make a choice whether or not to pay their taxes or eat. Why? The Borough Administrator's brother, is our Borough Manager and he too lives in Aston. We pay him 3 times more than what one of our working families makes in a two income household. He sees the dilapidated homes we have. He sees how more Section 8 rental properties occupy our streets than homeowners. He sees how slumlords, continually disregard our ordinances and tax bills. He goes home at 3:30 PM every day to Aston. Apartheid - The Borough Manager is Apart from the Neighborhood.

The Chief of Police - the Leader of Apartheid in Darby. He has been apart from the neighborhood for many years. He lives in Springfield. He comes and goes as he pleases. He has no work schedule.
