Apple has announced their new photo software, Aperture 3. This new software is the update to Aperture 2. The pricing is $199 for new owners and $99 for an upgrade for previous owners. Many people wonder if the future of Aperture looks bright. It has been 2 years since the last version was released, and many people have moved on to other photo software such as iPhoto and Adobe Lightroom. Although this has the potential to not look so well for Apple, Aperture 3 has a hefty amount of new features that may just be able to sway customers back its' way. Some of the new features include:

Full screen view

Full screen browser

Simplified film strip

Autosplit projects

Autosplit headers

New projects options

Expanded EXIF Data on import window

Project merging

More project sorting options

Simplified custom field creation

Even more exciting features include:

Support for video

This is a feature that many have craved for. You now have the option to import, browse, and play back video clips from digital cameras, SLR cameras, and point and shoot cameras.

Quick brushes

You now have the option to gain immediate access to 15 brushes for common enhancement tasks. Included in the quick brushes option is tint, contrast, skin smoothing, and others.

Face detection and recognition

Aperture 3 will automatically detect faces in pictures once they are imported. The Faces feature that was originally in iPhoto is now in Aperture 3 but much more enhanced. You can also detect missing faces with the "detect missing faces" menu command. It will rescan the photos to find matching faces that were not detected during the first scan. Also, you can enable and disable faces. If you do not want to use the face detection feature, you can easily turn it on/off in the preference menu.

Support for iPhone Photo GPS locations

You will be able to easily import GPS locations from your iPhone that is GPS-enabled. You can then assign locations to photos in your library.

There is an overabundance of new features in the new Aperture 3. There are over 200 new features, which makes this a serious new upgrade to the predecessors.
